(2)Deep: Da Bush Babees – 1st & 4Most x Swing (Original) x The Ruler Super Rare!

I just ripped these three extremely rare cuts by Da Bush Babees this morning from two promo tapes of theirs I own. After doing some extensive research, I can safely say that at least one of these you will not find on the internets (well, except for this very website you’re looking at). I know that The Ruler can actually be found on the US promo version of the LP for Gravity (’96), and the original version of Swing can be found if you scour the net thoroughly. But 1st & 4most is the really rare cut, and besides the O.G. version of Swing, is one of the doper cuts. Swing and 1st & 4most were both ripped from their 1994 album, Ambushed, albeit a rare cassette promo. Also, 1st & 4most may very well feature one of the earliest Mos Def recordings, along with his brother DCQ and sister Ces which form the group Urban Thermo Dynamics.

  5. I hope to see more post like this in the future. 96′ was a great year for hip-hop! This classic album was released a month before albums like “Doggfather” and “The Don Killuminati: The 7 Day Theory”. Not to mention other albums released that year: “Beats Rhymes and Life” by ATCQ,”The Coming” by Busta Rhymes, “ATLiens” by OutKast, “Blah Blah Blah” by Blahzay Blahzay, Delinquent Habits… You get the idea.

  14. I didn’t know the original “Swing It” wasn’t on ‘Ambushed.’ I’ll admit I never listened to their 1st album but the original “Swing It” is on the commercial 12″ with the instrumental and a cappella.
