It’s ironic that some of you like to so easily categorize Odd Future or Lil B in relation to something else, that its nothing new. Why doesn’t anyone else comment on how most of the hip-hop that is posted on this site is just a continuous IMITATION of post-Marley Marl, soul, jazz and r&b sample-based, Golden Era nostalgia in the vein of Premier, Buckwild, Pete Rock, Madlib and J Dilla? Don’t get me wrong, these artists are very creative and I’ve listened to them thoroughly for the past 20 years, but Odd Future and Lil B have nothing to do with this music because the means of creating music and self-determination are much different now. If anyone is doing a disservice to the critical mass, it is people like Meka and Shake, unless a line or a paragraph and a video are critically engaging with music? Instead, they are just a hype machine for some music made 20 years ago with different words and with different voices. Sure I love hip-hop, but determining what is and is not hip-hop or simply placing it into a category, according to some aesthetic of classcicism, traditionalism, realism, etc. is misunderstanding the artists who put in their time and creativity to do something unnameable. People like the Wu-Tang Clan, Sunz of Man, Ultramagnetic & Dr. Octagon, the Indelible MCs, emerged on the scene precisely to kill the category “hip-hop”, they did something unnameable, but quickly fell into the category as time passed and critical thinking became childish game. The minute you name something, is the minute you reduce the music to a box and limit the possibilities of artistic creation. If it doesn’t fit into your box, you label it is wack, or call those who listen to it as dickriders, which are vulgar insults that have nothing to do with critically thinking about artistic creation. And the artists in the Odd Future collective and Lil B don’t need your hype machine. They create their own future, they are self-determined. There are few artists as prolific as Lil B, and Tyler and the Golf Wang don’t give a fuck what you call them, they are not THAT. Fuck the fame and all the hype G !

This is very interesting to observe & see unfold before our very eyes.
I have artists albums that I hold near and dear til this day because I had something to identify with during my formative years. As I grew older and matured, SOME of those same artists music didn’t. EXAMPLE: MOBB DEEPS albums after the 1st two.
Let them enjoy their musical experience for what it’s worth. They’ll look back someday & say, “Damn, I can’t believe this is what I listened to back then!”

I played the tape from to back, and I can honestly say that music cannot get worse than this. During a lethal injection, this is the music that the prison system forces death-row inmates to listen to with headphones. If the Taliban caught wind of this mixtape, they would cancel all attacks after realizing that our culture couldn’t get any worse. Distributing this tape is rude, plain and simple. Why subject people to this? Fuck being a bad “rapper,” Lil’ B is a bad person. I need to write an apology to my ears.

You later labeled his music as something you play to put put to “death” well there are probably hundreds of thousands who like his music and don’t consider this being put to death as you say.
