Someone was telling me this in Toronto a few days ago, and now it’s official: Spitta has gone major.
Spitta also secured a label deal with Warner for his imprint, Jets International. He has hopes to drop disc by his affiliates Fiend and Young Roddy, who have appeared on his Pilot Talk 1 & 2 albums, which both dropped in 2010 through a distribution deal with Def Jam. – XXL
His first release on Warner will be an EP produced entirely by The Alchemist, Covert Coup, which will drop on April 20th (get it? Forget it). Applaud that man.

@Ryuk Can’t speak for anyone else, but I’m in the industry (not the “Industry”, and I’m not a suit either lol) I wish Curren$y larger scale success b/c it’s overdue, but as of now you can only view it a small win. The game right now for Warner is this: snatch up a bunch of blog hyping rappers and lock them into to publishing deals (Warner/Chappell) then play the market to see switch one of them pops. It’s an age old major strategy that’s just as sleazy as it was in the 90′s. I’m not saying it isn’t possible for Curren$y to “blow” or whatever one can say, but you have to be realistic about the system. Jay Rock and Wiz left for good reason; don’t want to see Curren$y become a casualty to broken promises from Lyor lol
I think someone with his work ethic should just stay independent, there’s no way a major will put out so many projects if he continues to work like he has in the past.
I don’t know the details on the deal so can’t really say much but I think there’s a risk that he done played himself.

For all those thinking Curren$y will sell out… Muscle Car Chronicles is being released next month, and Covert Coup (The album produced entirely by Alchemist) is coming out 4/20 and doesn’t have a single hook on it. Think of a whole album of “Daze of Thunder”‘s produced entirely by Alchemist, it really is going to be a COVERT COUP, Spitta and the JETS are going to take over.
There is no way Curren$y would sign a deal that limits his music, do you really think major labels haven’t been offering him deals for years? He just waited around for the right deal, remember “Perfect Time”? He’s gonna create a JETS International movement with this deal, think GOOD Music. Obviously, it’s not that level, but by signing this deal Curren$y is stepping the whole JETS. SInce he left Young Money, he hasn’t let fans down (tireless work ethic), why would he start now?

i will second everything that KP said. Spitta’s been around for a while, he knows what he is doing. I can’t wait for the fruits of this deal. Curren$y continues to impress me. I’ve been going back and listening to his older mixtapes and I hear that same dope lyrics that I do on his newer releases. The guy is deep, funny, and hella talented. I can’t wait to what the future brings for him and his fans.
Lets just hope Currensy signed an AGREEMENT not a CONTRACT , theres a difference. Currensy is alot older then Wiz so I dont see Warner being able to make him do anything he doesnt want to do. Currensy really dont need them so maybe Warner got a new system over there cause their track record for hip hop artists in the past 10 years is not so good. They consistently drop the ball and they have not helped artists expand their fanbase. So I dont know what Currensy is thinking but then again im not in his shoes so im sure he has relationships and plans thats meant to take his JETS to higher skies. Good luck though with ( Warn a brother )… The EP should be DOPE cause Currensy + Alchemist is a ill combination.

The main reason i’m not to worried is an interview Murs did awhile back about his time spent at Warner. He basically stated that he got what he needed out of that situation and he went back to doing his own thing. So best case scenario Curren$y does numbers on his terms at Warner or he still gains a larger fan base then he has now, makes his paper and skates. I genuinely believe that Curren$y is too smart to be played by the majors twice.

This is how a major plays dirty , they lie , make promises they dont keep , they over spend and they act like hoes when a new artist shows up. Let me break this shit down for yall. Warner is more then just music , their involved in many forms of entertainment like movies , Tv , radio etc. You guys remember a rapper named E40 who is a independent rap pioneer , who made millions off hip hop in the 90s? He put out a song called Tell Me When To Go a few years ago. That song started The Hyphy Movement which spread nation wide and had celebrities and people in other countries talking about ghostriding the whip and going dumb in the club. The fanbase backing multiple Bay area artists ( Signed to Warner ) and the Hyphy movement was alot bigger then the JETS following. When the media found out about bay area culture of sideshows and muscle cars and SMOKING WEED there was a backlash aimed at the artists and at the culture. Warner then cut the promotion ( TV and Radio ) behind E40 and other artists making that kind of music. The whole movement collapsed and what could have been a multi- million dollar platform of music for the westcoast was forgot about. Now we all know Currensy loves to smoke but what happens when that type of lifestyle is put out on major networks ? You think Warner is gonna hold they ground or will they run again like bitches? Hold that thought , ill be back later with more on MY OPINION of this move and Im not saying that all his lost for Currensy and the JETS but im just giving you food for thought.
