  1. Lex Luger is this generations Lil Jon

  2. a yearly fad imo.
just like every year prior pretty much.
bangladesh beat, t-pain hook, akon hook, etc.

  3. “why all his beats sound the same”
    ^^
    lol

  4. Let me know when you have a video regarding the end of his career.

  5. tru shit shake, i wasnt sure if i was the only one who noticed. hes the most blatant abuser of a particular sound i’ve ever heard(with bangledesh coming in a close second). every single one of his beats have those blaring horns in them. granted, a few(HAM is all i can think of rite now) of his beats are dope. it jus shows no range as a producer. his 15 mins will be up soon.

  6. ^^^ agree 100%

  7. Lex Lugar, it’s great that your new and all, but your beats sound the same…especially with your “classic” opera sounds. Learn some new stuff or your fifteen minutes will end sooner than you think.

  8. Lex Luger is ill bro…Why mess with success? If you got Jay & Kanye calling why do something else? Fucking elitist all of ya’ll man.

  9. Every post with this guy’s name on it people talk negative shit and say his beats may sound the same but so the fuck what? Nobody is forcing you to listen to his music. My question is have any of you done anything significant when you were 19? Go and do something productive with your lives instead of criticizing someone for putting food on their table.

  10. yall niggas is haters… lex luger is that dope shit

  11. I respect that guy 100%, as a young kid just doing what I love doing as well I see no wrong in what he loves to do even if they all sound the sam…he gives hope because his only 19(maybe 20 now) much love

  12. But if he’s repetative, eventually people will catch on.
STFU and GTFO with your weak Ghetto Logic…

  13. why is he talking in slow motion?

  14. Wats the name of tha track that they were playing at the start of the interview? BTW, if Forest Gump was a producer, that would be him…

  15. LMAO @alaska “If Forest Gump was a producer…”

  16. what beat is that playing in the start of the video

  17. Dude is full blown retarded

  18. dis niga dum

  19. lol @ dudes hating on this kids hustle.

    Fuck all yall.

And shake, should I send Lupe after your ass again?

  20. HOW THE FUK COULD ANYONE!! HATE ON THAT SOUND QUALITY???

  21. leave the test tube baby alone

  22. You can tell he’s a very reserved, quite kind’ve guy. He’s so young. I hope this guys developed his sound by learning about other music, keep his integrity and goes high in the stars

  23. The fact that I constantly see ads on these MTV interviews make me NOT want to watch them

  24. This no education havin ass lmao sounds like he’s barely learnin how to speak english. no wonder he dropped out of school lol

  25. The sample of that first song is from Blake Reary, and the song is called Nowhere Near. I guess Lex made the beat and added some 808s to it. Sounds dope.

  26. Wowwww!!! Recently, I came across a ho t datin g sit-e
    ~ Bla c k ‘w h it e ‘F li rts. C” 0- M~~~~
The most successful interra cial da t ing c lub./// If you are still waiting for your sweet “mil k” or “chocolat e”, don’t hesitate to check it !! Don’t let your babies wait too long for you !!

  27. if that was an underground white producer, shake would say hes a hard working artist on the come up, word to big ghost face.

  28. Man before i watched this, i saw that “If Forest Gump was a producer…” comment, and i was thinking “your going too far son”… BUT OMG this nigga does sound retarded haha

But i respect him, only because hes making something happen and i cant never hate on that lol… hopefully he learns some new techniques and improve…

  29. So his beats sound similar…. he’s 19… he can easily learn how to make new beats with varying sounds, but everyone wants a beat from him so he’s doing something right. Much respect to the kid for working hard and making his dreams come true.

  30. “why his beats all sound the same” lol

  31. This shit is hyped up.

  32. Damn why is there so much hate smh

  33. sigh, this “any sort of criticism is considered hate” mentality that people are adopting is a shame. I didnt say a disrespectful word about dude, nor did I say he doesnt deserve the money he’s makin. I can respect a man’s hustle without respecting his craft, the two are not synonymous. I jus stated that I feel his limited range of beats is gonna be a detriment to his young career…and i agree, he’s young and new enough to possibly gain some exposure to a fresh sound and incorporate it into his style. thats still no excuse for all of his beats to be monotone. granted, he could have some beats that arent so similar to wats out rite now but artists are jus askin for the ones that sound this way cuz they’re hot rite now.

  34. mannn that Forrest Gump of producing line is dead on…I actually think Forrest might’ve been a little more intellectual.

  35. Hip hop “purists” are the biggest group of chumps out. All of DJ Premier’s beats sound the EXACT same. From 1999 to about 2003 the Ruff Ryders go to guy was Swizz…ALL of his shit sounded the same. Truth be told, every RR LP that dropped sounded like one big long compilation album. Non of you NY dick suckers said anything then. Now comes along a 19 year phenom, and the hate comes from all over the place. This is why I only eff with Nahright…

  36. Lex SUCKS

  37. ^^^^ I agree with jamesjones…I respect him cause he went from Waka to Kanye and Jay-Z … Plus he uses the same program i use

  38. LOL @ 19 year old phenom. Cuz he got hot making beats for coon artists such as Waka Flocka & Rick Ross?

  39. uh, for those saying he sounds retarded, he’s clearly high off his ass. Also, Lex’s beats are dope. No, they don’t all sound the same, he has a signature sound and each production has elements of it.

  40. “if that was an underground white producer, shake would say hes a hard working artist on the come up, word to big ghost face.”

    word. Fucking gingers.

  41. I’m happy for him. And I like his beats, they get the blood flowing. How can you not get crunk to Hard in the Paint?

  42. @jamesjones
Theres a difference between a dude havin a signature sound and bein one dimensional. Im not gonna sit here an claim to be a hip hop historian, but I can usually spot a Preemo beat wen i hear it(its not that difficult lol). they have that boom-bap and the scratches usually, but its the wide range of elements that he puts on top of those signature sounds that make the difference. ALL of Lex’s beats that i’ve heard have those damn horns and very similar kicks, accents, and transitions. I mean BMF and MC Hammer on Teflon Don are sooooo similar. You can hear the elements that are in both beats. now it is a bit unfair to compare Preem and Lex becuz of the large gap in sample size. but still, thats no excuse for Lex to use the same elements so repetitively.

  43. ‘Hip hop “purists” are the biggest group of chumps out. All of DJ Premier’s beats sound the EXACT same. jamesjones said this on January 22nd, 2011 at 10:17 am’

WORD! this dude speaks the truth! Lex got hot beats… his beats sound similar cuz its his style… same with Preem. Same with every other producer.

  44. That kid’s the life of the party! Seriously…. Add him to the list of “why hip-hop is trash right now”.

  45. His beats are cool for like southern rappers. They don’t really fit northern rappers that well imo.

  46. LOL @ niggas calling him slow. He’s clearly stoned as fuck.

  47. Because noone with class listens to Waka Flocka, zookeeper.

  48. lol @ judging a producer on the few mainstream hits he’s made. it’s not like Hard N Da Paint was his first beat, so don’t judge what you don’t know. luger has a ton of beats, and a good amount of variety, too.

  49. I dont really care much for the man’s beats, nor for his body of work as a whole because they all sound the same, just like every Dj Khaled song. I mean illroots has this post as “prodigy-super producer Lex Luger…” which is fine and all, but he doesn’t fit that description for me. I mean if you want to talk about real super producers (Like Kanye, or the Neptunes, or early 2000′s Timbo) they all managed to create a “signature sound” without having all their beats sound. Through the Wire was just as Kanye as Get em High, and without that overlapping sound issue right? Even now All of the lights, Monster, The Joy, still feel like uniquely kanye beats, without treading into “all his songs sound the same” territory.

@jamesjones hell yeah every Swiss eat song between ’99 and (now frankly) sounded the same, which is why I cant mess with Mr. Keys as a producer, and thats exactly what I felt like listening to RR,just happy it wasnt just me.

oh, the above wasn’t me hating, just my opinion on his music. I don’t like it much so meh.

  50. i always fux with dope producers but change yo fuckin style up nigga!

  51. respect, do what you do homie

  52. Fist pumps*

  53. Im a hip hop purists that loves oldschool rap and I dont hate on people on the come up but let me say this. I dont really like dudes beats , now that doesnt mean that I dont like him or think he can be successful. For all the kids who like his sound I think thats cool , support what you like. To get to a level of Dj Premier , Alchemist , 9th Wonder , Kanye West , Just Blaze etc… IT takes years of practice so im sure when this kid is older I mite start liking his sound. I dont expect him to make the shit I think is dope at 19 because he hasnt listened to enough music yet to create well crafted material. Let me also say that I respect you young adults and teenagers out there but let me tell you why hip hop purist say the things they do about your music. Take a young producer making beats on his computer and a older producer making beats on his computer ok. The young producer is dope and mite be better in the future but let me tell you what the older cats like the ones I named earlier can do. 1st make dope beats , people need a signature sound so thats why young people think that all Dj Premier and Swizz beats music sounds the same but those producers can make dope shit every year like Dj Premiers new beat with Nick Javas and Lupe Fiasco for the Pepsi max NFL promo for the Packers vs Bears. Experienced producers can also make slow beats sound good as well as fast ones because albums need a balance of all emotions. They are also DJs who can rock any crowd , club or age group using their sound and they can battle , like Just Blaze and Alchemist did for the Redbull- Big Tune beat battle contest. They can make hardcore street records , radio songs and everything in between. They can work with R&B artists and rap artists solo and groups. They can use all forms of equipment in the studio not just on piece and they can use them well. This is why older people like myself in our late 20s cannot hear what you young people hear and appreciate about this sound cause your choice of sounds is one dimensional. Your all 8o8s and heavy basslines but with no soul in it or groove I can really feel. Your sound has no warmth or structure to it and sounds easily put together. A Pete Rock and Dj Premier beat mite sound simple but listen closer. 1st hear all the different sounds then listen as every sound compliments the other sounds. The Drums go with the piano and guitar and the strings and the horns and the sample and they all perfectly blend together. All those different things Lex Luger couldnt do but like I said thats cool cause hes young and I dont expect him to know all that stuff but I just wanted to explain a little bit why us older cats are so much harder to impress. If your a young producer cool go for yours but before you make a beat I like first you need to learn the Craft all the way around. Now go listen to that promo for The Packers vs Bears wit Nick Javas and Lupe and come back and tell me you young cats can hear why people like Dj Premier is dope. Yours truly , The Delorean Driver

  54. I love how we had a Pete Rock post earlier in the day and now I need to see this shit bag.

  55. Premo goes hard in the mothafuckin paint….. for you Waka flockas out there.

  56. Yeah he’s one dimensional and in no way a great producer but Hard In Da Paint & BMF are both great beats in their own way. Particularly BMF.

  57. “Even now All of the lights, Monster, The Joy, still feel like uniquely kanye beats, without treading into “all his songs sound the same” territory. ”

    Pete Rock made ‘The Joy’.

  58. IF YOU WERE 19 WITH 2 KIDS MAKNGS BEATS FOR BIG NAME ARTIST LIKE KANYE, JAY-Z & RICK ROSS…& THOSE BEATS YOU SOLD THEM BECAME THEIR BIGGEST HITS..WOULD YOU GIVE A FUCK IF MOST OF YOUR BEATS SOUNDED SIMILAR?

I MEAN EVERYBODY GOTTA HAVE THEIR OWN SIGNATURE SOUND..YOU MAY NOT LIKE IT BUT ITS THE WAY IT IS..EVEN THOUGH I DONT REALLY ROCK WIT DUDES BEATS TOO MUCH, I RESPECT WHAT HES DOING..SO HATS OFF TO LEX LUGER.

  59. Yes I respect his hustle. He has to slave over a simplified beat making program and click the mouse button a few hundred times in order to make beats that are almost exact clones of each other.

Seriously, I don’t give a fuck about the kid’s hustle. Everybody is trying to make money. He just got lucky that the southern portion of the US strives to outdo each other with making the worst music possible and that his wack beats fit the profile.

I don’t fuck with that trap, swag, ham ‘music’.

  60. Can’t blame him for the beats that other rappers use. It isn’t like he forces these beats on Ross or Waka, THEY choose what they want for their album. I guess Ross didn’t care that he had 2 identical beats back to back.

  61. @ “all his beats sound the same”
dont hate, thats his niche as a producer and honestly allot of 9th beats sound similar, premo beats sound similar and even timbaland, thats their sound and why they’re so recognizable, i just think it brings diversity of an artist having a selection of sounds to choose from for a song… let the man do his thing

  62. araabmuzik sounds the same too….

  63. @marty mcfly
“Your all 8o8s and heavy basslines but with no soul in it or groove I can really feel. Your sound has no warmth or structure to it and sounds easily put together.”
    ^^
So true. I second that. Stop abusing the 808′s!

  64. Martymcfly wins and yes Lupe killed it in that Pepsi Max commerical

  65. aarabmuzik>lex lugar any day of the week

  66. ya ppl taking realistic opinions as hate/negativity its not hate everyone that said his beats sound the same its true he’s successful now but successful can come and go i hope to see that he evolves as a producer cause his sound can get old fast

  67. bro ur beats are wack as fuck i can make these beats in my sleep pure trash

  68. martymcfly< i usauly like ur posts. but i gotta disagree. age has nothing to do with it, becasue justblaze, havoc, premier, qtip, dilla etc etc were making dope beats when they were YOUNG, 19 etc. NOW… luger has said he has different sounds but this is wat rappers want from him rite now so he gives it. and you cant say it has no soul or groove or watever (yea its boring listening to the similar sounding beats) or he wudnt have gotten this far, ppl in clubs go crazy when they hear hard in the paint or bmf, and that is a hard thing to do, make people literally go crazy to the point djs only have to go a couple bars into the song. i think dude is more talented and he will eventually show his other sides. but till all the other rappers who wanna get hot n keep payin him to sound like bmf..hes gonna keep makin bmf.

  69. @BillyClint thats true but I think people go crazy cause Ross had a good flow on the song. I wasnt necessarily goin at lex luger for all his beats I was just sayin the overall sound thats being over used in certain areas of the south is very simple and easy to make. And yes the producers from that era were young but they just had more love for the music then the kids do today. Im from the generation after Big Daddy kane , during the Biggie and Pac days. In high school I seen kids break into warehouses in the middle of the night so we could have our little underground shows with our local talent. I used to carry big heavy bags of equipment full of records , turntables and microphones just to make music and do shows. I seen kids make their album covers by hand in graphics class then go get they hustle on , just to pay for studio time and cd materials. So back then you had no choice but to make very good music. Now with all this computer programs like Reason and Fruity loops ( even though in good hands there dope ) I think its had an effect on the quality of music. Cause you dont have to hustle ( work hard ) to make it anymore. Just make some shit on computer , send it out and people get it that day. So the music has very little life and soul in it now cause there aint no pain in making it songs no more. Im not goin at all young artist just a few.

  70. fuck the bullshit, the beat at the beginning of the video is bananas

  71. He said it himself…i make beats…he’s not a producer. Two different things!

  72. He’s a beat maker, what yall expect?…
