That’s 8 years, and that’s only if you start counting from January. And the Detox he started back in ’03 isn’t the Detox that’s being released in 2011. If you wanna be real about it, he’s been working on Detox since August or whenever it was he said he started over. Don’t even consider the stuff he was working on before as part of Detox. It was practice. So no, it hasn’t taken 12 years. Why are people expecting Dre to come with a new sound or Detox to be his best album? He’s past his prime. It will not top the likes of Straight Outta Compton, Chronic or Doggystyle. I’ll cop the CD when it comes but I rather he work with other artists i.e. Slaughterhouse.

But for the last 8 years we heard “Detox is coming.” At least twice a year for the last 8 years, the fans have been told Detox is coming out. And for the last 8 years, we been psyched out everytime. So people being apprehensive and not believing it will come out (or at least not coming out as soon as January) are justified. And sorry, I can’t feel you’re whole “well, he started in August” bs. Dude has been starting and restarting Detox forever. I can recall at least 3 interviews where he said the same “well, I just really started recording” crap. I don’t think it would’ve been so bad if dude and the producers and artists he worked with didn’t feel the need to say Detox in all these interviews all this time. Then people wouldn’t feel the way they do. Lastly does Dre owe us this album. HELL YES! At the end of the day, he has hyped the fans up so much, it would be a complete fuck you to those who have supported his work for some many years and have been anticipating this album that they’ve been teased with for so long.
PLUS, Dre is infamous for working on projects and hyping them up, then not delivering. Even a hardcore Dre fan such as myself can admit that much.

I lost interest in Detox a long time ago. No one cares anymore. And if the leaked tracks and official tunes are anything to go by, it’ll be a massive, massive letdown. In fact, unless it’s the greatest hip hop album of the last decade, it’ll be deemed a total flop. I like Dre, but I’m just not arsed anymore. I’m far more interested in hearing Raekwon and Lupe Fiasco’s new album.
