The term “going Ham”….if you had to associate it with a certain producer’s beats…..Lex is the perfect candidate. That’s what makes the song so good. The mids and mid-mids are very muddled. If you’re going to mix with those, use them to iso the lows and some highs first and then use some Sony’s to get the highs, mids, and mid-mids.
But with any mix, you need to 1) assess the problem, 2) what you’re trying to achieve, and 3) what’s the best steps to get you there?

This is a southern beat on steroids. I don’t think it’s overproduced. I like the contrast and the build. It mirrors the content of the songs which is about GOING HARD AS A MUTHERUCKA! There’s a calm before the storm and then there’s the storm which the production captures eloquently.
