@whatsmyname yes what you say is true about Marcus Garvey being in the tenth percentile of black leaders, but if you really wanna get smart with it, Marcus Garvey was not aligned w/ the “talented tenth”. The talented tenth favored integration over separatism, elitism over working class leadership etc… Marcus Garvey did not associate w/ the “talented tenth” even though you would consider him b/c he was a black leader. Him and W.E.B Dubois were at odds b/c of these ideological differences.

Actual Proof and I decided to choose individuals who represented the Talented Tenth of our people……leaders, musicians, activists, public servants, ANYONE who displayed a different way or expressing art or method of thinking, and had a mission that was visionary. I am fully aware of WHAT the TT is and WHO created the ideology, but at this point we feel that all of our black visionaries belong to that 10 percent of individuals.
Don’t be surprised to see a picture of GWENDOLYN BROOKS tomorrow, or Robert Sengstacke Abbott the next day…..or Ms. Fannie Lou Hamer the day after that….
