Maybe you dunces aren’t aware that J. Cole is still fairly underground and that if he was to put out a CD without any features or radio friendly singles he would only be selling around 20k.
The single draws in the crowds, the crowds buy the CD, the crowds listen to the CD, and then they realize that the rest of his more ‘authentic’ work is actually top quality.
It isn’t rocket science.
That doesn’t mean the song is bad if he has Trey Songz feature. I think it’s a great choice. Trey’s been making huge progress in his music.

I think cole just wants to create enough buzz so he can push units. Jay tried his best with certain artist but none of them were really marketable. Hes signed to Rocnation , he has a song with Jay z and Keri Hilson and Miguel and he has Tv and Radio connections. So he dont have to worry about Radio play cause hes locked in nationwide. The way I see it, J. Cole should have at least 5 radio friendly songs/features that are getting steady play close to his album release.
Cole needs to prove to the fans, the haters, the mainstream, the middle of the road hip hop listener, to the critics, to the magazines, to television, etc, etc, etc that he is marketable and the real deal.
