George Kush is gearing up to drop his new project, THC (The Hustler’s Catalog), in the near future, and this Hi-Tek-produced cut is the first offering from it. I’m gonna put it out there: Hi-Tek has been the Ghostface Killah of production (meaning, consistently consistent) for well over a decade now, from 50 to Talib and back again.
Props to GFCNY for the track.

“Hi-Tek has been the Ghostface Killah of production”
Agreed.
DZA been getting classic beats, this is from that Detox referance track though from early last year. T.I. – Coming back. Check out George Kush tha button, very good tape IMO.
Also, this song is dope. Downloading now.
@TE good call on that, I’ve been waiting for this instrumental to drop with Dre on it, but this is fine. Such a bangin production!
hi tek laced this beat! shit is smooth.
HOT
I don’t always agree with Meka but Hi-tek is one of the most under appreciated producers available to artists 2day. My first ever hearing of his work was when I bought Reflection Eternal, but his cameo productions on Beg For Mercy and The Massacre were epic for. Then consider the quality he puts into his own albums … Where do I start ? *pun intended*
^ were epic for Curtis. ^
is this the same sample hi-tek used on black gold? this song is like an ambient slowed down black gold to me… could just be a similar melody though
^ ^
Heard Hi-Tek say there were no samples in Black Gold. jus really good engineering.
Havent got a chance to play this, but DZA/Hi-Tek shouldnt be a let down!
Fuck out of here with that Hi-Tek is consistent shit. He epitomizes ‘hit or miss’. When he’s on, he’s on, but nothing dude has put out since Reflection Eternal has come close. #cleanyourears
SOMEONE MIX THIS WITH THE TI VERSION
Hi-Tek is really dope and underrated but i think he’s better when he uses samples.
@ Jiz – black gold definately uses a sample, there’s no doubt. you can even hear the static in the end of the song when the play out the sample so you can tell its an old record
Static definitely doesn’t mean it was an old record. You could literally record some static to give that effect.
its so hard to listen to the lyrics with such a dope beat, hi-tek is unreal at beat making. lyrics are finally not about dank which is cool.
i wouldn’t be the least bit surprised if this track used the same sample or looped the shit in “black gold”. it makes too much sense. a loose acapella track over an alternative version of black gold. still heat though.
aint this the detox reference track with T.I.??
the only thing sampled in “Black Gold” was the background vocals… not the beat… easily one of my fav rap songs of 2010…
Hi-Tek has fallen off a bit as of late imo. I wasn’t feeling the latest RE joint.
But Hi-Tek = Ghost? Is a very accurate and well-said statement.
“Iām gonna put it out there: Hi-Tek has been the Ghostface Killah of production”
well said!!!!!
Damn I guess this aint gonna be on Detox now
Hi-Tek is one of my top 5 producers.
DZA is dope when he doesn’t go on and on and on about how many rugbies he has.
Hi-Tek is a Genuis.
Six words I thought I’d never say:
This Smoke DZA track is ridiculous.
Anybody know where I can get this instrumental?
Dope beat .
But i hate when DZA goes ‘Riiiight !’ on the chorus .
Crazy song though .
