Macklemore & Ryan Lewis – My Oh My

Have these two ever released a bad track? I don’t think so…

Dave Niehaus was not only the voice of the Seattle Mariners, he was the voice of my childhood. Some of my most prized memories, growing up as a kid, are accompanied with his voice narrating the moment. He was more than just another radio announcer. His on-air personality was so genuine, that you had a sense who the man was and what he stood for, by simply listening to him call a game.

I understand that people might not know Niehaus. A large portion of my fan base either lives outside of the Northwest, are too young to have listened to him, or just not a fan of baseball. I get it. But I believe that as musicians, it’s our responsibility to pay homage to the people that made us who we are. For me, Niehaus was an imperative part of not only my upbringing, but of Seattle’s unique history and culture. From his signature “My oh my” catch phrase, to the heart and passion that exuded from the radio, his presence will be greatly missed by the community. And for those of you outside of the area, hopefully you’ll listen and get a glimpse of not only a Town legend, but one of the greatest announcers to ever have ever called a game. – Macklemore

  11. guess i wasnt paying enough attention… shame.

i already liked the material… but just got more of my support now that i know

  12. Macklemore is a G. Real artist man its a must respecting his work when it has so much heart in it. ~Kal

  13. Full Time Soldiers-best seattle rap

  14. I like this cat. He puts the heart into it. And Ryan , beautiful layout. Like this Mack even more.

  15. FTS (Full Time Soldiers) is definitely NOT the best rap from Seattle, haha. Pretty much your average local gangster rap that every city has, nothing special. Blue Scholars and Macklemore and Ryan Lewis are a much better example of dope hip-hop from Seattle

  16. This is dope. Thanks for reppin, Macklemore. Rest in Peace Niehaus, you’ll always be the best

  17. Wow. This shit is damn good.

  18. Mastered by D-Sane!

Macklemore & Ryan Lewis just released the album “VS Redux” which shot up the iTunes Hip-Hop charts! Peep that one out! I mastered that album too.

  19. Oh…and you FTS haters can suck my nuts. We sold more records out here in the stores than ANYBODY, and that’s verifiable!

  24. Love this song, but I can barely listen to it. I was 6 when the double happened and it gives me chills every time. Fucks with my head that Niehaus is gone.

Also, Knowmads are some of the best rap from Seattle even though PEPE is a douche

  25. neva even heard of this guy…wats his most recent shit anybody

  26. i don’t know anything about baseball, but Niehaus sounds like a great man. i also dont know how can people argue in the c-section on a song like this. Rest in Peace Niehaus, and smh @ the people arguing.

  27. Man… I’m not the biggest fan of Mack but he reps my town harder than anyone. Niehaus is a legend in Seattle. I respect it. 206 stand up

  28. I wasn’t a Mariners fan, but I can respect the reason this song was recorded. When you lose someone that had even the smallest impact on your childhood, that moment of nostalgia sets in to that time of joy. Respect.

  29. Wow. I can’t tell you the last time I felt chills listening to a rap song. I’m a SoCal guy, and I had tears streaming down my face when Junior scored the winning run. Thank you Mack.

  30. Beat reminds me of his song “Love Song” off of his album The Language of my World. I almost teared up when I heard the news about Dave. Much love to Macklemore from Vancouver

  31. a fantastic piece of work. really impressive

  32. Never heard of these cats before today. This track is dope. Just downloaded the VS EP….pure fire.

  33. this shit is too dope

  34. 206>>>>>>

  35. I love how my haters keep my dick….err….I mean my name in their mouth!

If I killed myself, then Seattle Hip-Hop wouldn’t sound as good as it does, BITCH. Don’t get mad at me cuz I’m a legend out here and you’re a nobody. SMH

  36. Yo thats real talk, i never heard a mack/ryan lewis song that wasnt good as hell

  37. I’m glad to hear some new Macklemore material.

  38. This track is amazing. I’m from Portland but the majority of my family lives in Seattle. When I was a kid I used to play baseball home-run derby with my friends and I always would do the impression of Niehaus when he would call a home run hit by Ken Griffey, “And that one is belted! To deeeeeep right center field!! And it’s going, going, gooooodbyeee baseball!!” Niehaus’ voice will resonate inside my head forever. He was truly the voice of the Mariners and to me, always will be. Macklemore always does an amazing job, as well as Ryan Lewis. Both are extremely gifted individuals. Much Respect!
