What is J. Cole’s Favorite Album of 2010?

Kendrick Lamar’s O(verly) D(edicated). Good choice. Hit the jump for his thoughts on the current state of hip hop as well.

Shouts to Idolator.

  1. I would say Skewby – More Or Less was mine but FNL is also up there. I understand they are both mixtapes but they were better than any other project released this year. MBDTF was HIGHLY overrated by the way, production was great, but lyrically it was average.

  2. Best projects of 2010. (hope i dont forget any)

    (O)verly (D)edicated -Kendrick Lamar
    Friday Night Lights -Cole
    MSTRD – TiRon
My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy -Yeezy
Man On The Moon 2 – CuDi

Ross, Nicki, and Wiz aren’t even close to these. Teflon Don was cool tho.

  6. He was right on both, Kendrick’s O.D was the best of the year, and on the second he basicly said that young money is ruining hip hop, which is absolutely true.

  21. Michael, where did you hear him say that young money is ruining anything. I can honestly say that I don’t like anything they do but I feel like you’re reaching for a reason to hate.

If you’re a hater, and you talk about them, then you inadvertently help them. Next time, be quiet

  22. My list of best albums/mixtapes of the year would be something like:

    Eminem – Recovery
Nas and Damian Marley – Distant Relatives
    J. Cole – Friday Night Lights
    Kno – Death is Silent

That would be about it, although I must admit I’m having some real trouble remembering what actually came out this year and what happened last year.

  23. Gotta go with:

    1) Big Boi
    2) The Roots
    3) Kanye
    4) Eminem
    5) J Cole

Honorable Mentions: Drake, Nas and Damian, Cudi

Solid year for hip hop overall.

Shit, it was a good year for hiphop.

  43. j.cole isn’t going to blow up. hes a really good rapper, but he doesnt have mainstream appeal. in my opinion, he doesnt make that good of music, he just raps really well. like when i listen to cole its more to hear the sick stuff hes saying than actually enjoying the music. that might not make any sense

  44. that makes sense^ but from what i know people listen to j cole for enjoying music as well, like me lol
