Jay-Z On Kanye West’s Growth (Video)

When asked about his upcoming Watch the Throne album with Kanye West, Hov speaks on his little brother’s growth as an artist.

This is another level of that recording. Because Kanye, I’ve seen him — really he’s like a brother to me — I’ve seen him from the beginning to where he is now. And to see him as a producer and to see how he’s growing as a producer and as an artist, for me, on another level, it’s enjoyable. I’m watching the guy that I pretty much mentored become his own guy, with his own opinion. It’s fantastic.

  1. yea take credit for kanye’s success and growth you camel.

  2. LOL KANYE WEST BEST RAPPER IN THE GAME.

THIS ALBUM WE WILL SEE HOV PASS HIS CROWN TO YE.

  3. Haha, you mentored him? But you were the one that didn’t want to sign him in the first place, but Dame did. Dayum, Cam was right, Ye did Dame wrong.

  4. Jay-Z On Kanye West’s Growth

    =======================

    pause

  5. He does not say anything about his rapping abilities though

  6. Is it me or is eminem’s verses on his new song with Dre are the most unintentionally gay verses ever?

  7. Kanye>>>> Jay-z

    Fact

  8. Didn’t Ye say No ID was his mentor?

  9. Didn’t Ye say No ID was his mentor?

  10. I think No ID was more a mentor of him producing wise I kinda thought Mos Def & Rhymfest were his rapping mentors.

  11. @bigwill,
& Dead Prez, Talib Kweli plus Common…

  12. @dragonballs pause at your name but yea Em was suckin Dre’s balls through his Dickies on that song

  13. “He does not say anything about his rapping abilities though”

^^^^^^of course not… thats cuz kanyes raps still areant good… n they aint really grow much… hes obviously a better producer and a producer first… his production is amazing…. his raps tho, not so much… quite average…

hes funny to listen to tho, like he says some funny stuff sometimes n once in a while he got somethin clever to say but he really shouldnt be considered one of the greats as far as that goes… but i dont mind him rappin at all, hes one of the better ones in the mainstream in fact (IDK if thats sayin much)

  14. takeing bets that ye murder jay on every song on wtt

  15. lol @ mentor

  16. Damn so many ignorant haters in the c-section. Hov has been looking to pass the torch for years, he doesn’t need your dumb ass to penalize him cuz he ain’t done it already. Jay and Ye are both very consistent in their work, and he was the one that discovered West anyways, so hop off, ntaoe your shit back home, and STFU. Without Hov, there is no Kanye West.

  17. Dame didn’t want to sign Kanye but wanted to make sure the beats stayed in house. Everybody had told Dame the way to keep him happy was to let him rap. So they signed him to keep him from going elsewhere….. he just happened to blow up and raps better than any other primarily producer in his time.

  18. My big brother was Big’s brother
Used to be Dame and Bigs brother
    Who was hip hop brother
    Who was No I.D friend
    No I.D My mentor
Now let the story begin -Kanye, Big brother ,
