  4. Theres something wrong with this website, like i go to the first page and it shows old posts from earlier in the day or sometimes the day before and other times it wont display a fist page at all, it says “soory what you are looking for is unfound” in the 2dopeboyz home page. Sometimes it doesn’t show the writer of the post (blame it “on”) and it wont let me view the comments untill after i post a comment.
Is anyone else having this problem?

  58. can’t this guy just give it a rest. where’s a chick with a mean left hook when you need one. lmfao

  59. Gonna post this again, since I’d like to hear more of this Charles Hamilton and a few people seemed to agree last time…

“How about the ‘starchasers’ explain (and this means give examples of his lyrical ability and/or why the poor sound quality is worth listening to) instead of just saying the same old canned phrases like “you’re just not LISTENING to his lyrics” or “low quality is just his sound.” because it sounds to me like his die-hard fans just want to sit on their high horse, pretending they’re understanding what he’s talking about and doing, when he’s really not being coherent at all.

Don’t get me wrong, I’m not a hater, but before his hiatus I ranked him at least Top 3 in the ‘Most Original Hip Hop Artist’ category. He wasn’t rapping about the money, clothes and hoes that’s so prevalent in the mainstream, but he also wasn’t constantly dissing the mainstream, talking constantly about being in the hood and political issues which seemed just as prevalent in the underground scene. He rapped about mental and personal issues and thought that goes way beyond what most people would define as ‘conscious rap’ and that, along with his undeniable work ethic and quirkiness, was what drew me to him in the first place, and I’m sure it’s the same situation for a lot of other people who don’t seem to blindly support everything he does and says.

There’s a lot that I don’t feel in regards to his ‘new’ approach and sound. First off, the lyrics themselves; I’ve listened to the vast majority of the tracks since the hiatus, and nothing seems to be sticking, at least not with me. It could be because he’s talking gibberish, or it could be because I can no longer relate, both things I consider to be factors. It could also be going over my head, but I’m a pretty sharp guy, and Lupe is my favourite rapper, so it’s not as if I don’t know my way around the English language. There’s so much of his earlier stuff where what he talks about is easy to follow, but still satisfies my appetite for lyricism: “Straight crack, got rockers boppin’/great rap, got hip-hoppers moshin’, knowledge droppin’/like your brains gettinspashed on the curb, I rap for the ‘burbs and them cats flippin’ birds.” and “Burger King birthdays as a youngin’/Back when I wasn’t sure that I could be somethin’.” were just some of the lyrics that really resonated with me when I heard them. With the newer stuff, I can’t think of any quotables or standout tracks, except for ‘Order My Steps’, ‘There’s Nothing Like It’, ‘Some first single type ****’ and the 3rd verse of ‘Speak No Louder’ (since the first 2 were old, to my knowledge).
Then there’s the sound/inspiration. Again, this is something I’ve found increasingly harder to grasp over time; Well Isn’t This Awkward is my favourite concept mixtape to date and My Brain Is Alive is my favourite mixtape, period. I loved the little audio clips at the end of most/all the tracks in Intervention and the very end of ‘Desperate Tears of Certainty’ really wrapped everything up almost perfectly. Compate with M/A/T/E…WHY are mirrors the enemy? What effect (if any) would not looking at them throughout the recording process have on your sound? Then there’s the sound itself. Yes, what Charles has done recently with his vocals and instrumentals is absolutely original, but just because something is ‘original’ and ‘different’ it doesn’t means that it is GOOD. Something which is unoriginal is normally that way because the approach has worked in the past, or has been tried and tested. Now let’s look at Starchaser Radio, almost any way you look at it, lowering the vocal quality to the level that he did there is a bad move, ESPECIALLY in a genre that is as lyrically focused as rap (or as he’d call it, Nu-Hop, just to further clarify that I’m not just an ‘ignorant hater’). Why make it harder for people that are interested in what you have to say to hear what you’re saying? This is probably where someone would say “But The_Anon! You have to listen to it in headphones, the way Charles intended!” True, it sounds better in headphones, but so does most other music, and it still sounds pretty bad in my opinion, most stuff on stereo has more clarity than that. I can’t understand the thinking behind making something awful to listen to on stereo and just passable to listen to on headphones when it’s possible to make something sound great on both.
Then it’s the release of the mixtapes themselves; it’s random to anyone that doesn’t have his blog as their homepage, and is probably random to some of those too. I found it enjoyable, if a little bit fast during the Hamiltonization process, and even after that, because although he didn’t announce their release they’d come out at a reliable pace, lots of sites also responded and as a result it was easier for me to get a hold of and know what it’s about/wherever people liked it or not. The cover art was often good too, and that along with the regular releases and the tracks themselves gave me the impression that even though he released tracks at an blistering pace compared to others, he cared about his work, not just about the lyrics, but the whole package. That doesn’t seem to be the case anymore, but there was a bit of structure when he was regularly releasing tracks before the single.

I think what I’ve said above outlines why a lot of people and sites have stopped checking for him and his projects, which is a shame because lots thought him along with other capable of bringing a new sort of subject matter to the mainstream with his lyrical ability, though B.o.B isn’t doing too bad for himself in that regard.

If Charles is doing music just for his sake, then more power to him, I can really respect that he’s doing what he wants to do instead of feeling pressured into going for commercial success, but if he wants to spread his message, gain listeners and “change the way consumers buy music” like he said in one track, then he really has to work to achieve that; instead of working hard as he always has done, he needs to work smart too.

And since someone will no doubt ask, writing something this long is nothing to me and I’m pretty bored, it’s pretty ironic that the type of people that would diss me for writing something this length would fancy themselves as a successful rapper.”

  60. the songs a little different, better mixed so sound quality is better, but overall i like the first version better, and all alone pt. 2 more than both of them. I’m still excited to ehar the rest of “my heart” tho, and i hope it comes out as a commercial release at some point than just an internet download. i want a physical copy of a CH project.

  61. i mean i like the singing better but his rap flow is kinda whiny and annoying compared to the first version..still alright tho..

  62. That CH video that just came out with him battling Serius Jones should be made a RAOF

  63. It’sa remastered version with a new verse and it’s a bit different.

  64. yeah it is an old song from this perfect life but this is a mastered version.

    and its super dope lol

hope this my heart album actually drops

  65. this isnt old lol…its for the album with NewCo Music, its a different version then the one for Interscopes album

and its dope, could be an anthem for emo white kids lmao, watch it blow up

  66. Hamilton hasn’t been hot for a minute. I’m thinking he should stop now.

  67. ^yeah pretty much what they said.

  68. *sigh*

Meka never really knows what he’s talkin about

  69. cant belive i read all of what the anon wrote.

  70. @The_Anon
that’s exactly what i think about CH, he’s definitely my favorite artist, he’s a great fallback when no good music is coming out cause you can just play some of his music from hamiltonization process up til normalcy and the binge 3 and still hear new music, for that short span of time, in my opinion, he took the game over like no one ever has, including weezy, cause CH brought a fresh sound completely original from everything else yet easy to listen to, he just needs to get back to the way he was in that 2 year period, fromThe Pink LavaLamp to Binge 3

  71. @ the_anon why are you typing essays on 2dopeboyz?

  72. @BillyClintBackwood: Thanks, if that’s indeed a compliment!
@Lou: Agreed, I just kinda understood ’08-’09 Charles a lot more too.
@Jag: I already addressed that question in the last paragraph of that post.
