Sitting down with the dopehouse and The Well Versed, Rapper Big Pooh spoke on his “soul bearing,” upcoming solo album.
“I’m working on a collaboration project with my man Roc C, the group is called Young Americans,” Pooh says. “The album isn’t titled yet but the first single is called ‘Set It Off’ produced by S1 (Producer of Kanye West’s ‘Power’). We actually have two videos done already.
“After (the collaboration project), my solo project Dirty Pretty Things is finally coming,” he reveals. It’s a project that has been discussed ever since 2005′s Sleepers was released. But for one reason or another, the album was pushed aside as Pooh worked with Little Brother on their final two albums.
“What you get (for the 4 years) I started working on Dirty Pretty Things now is what I’ve been working on since the beginning,” he says. “This is probably the most introspective and the most soul bearing stuff (I’ve recorded),” he says. “Even when you listen to it, it’s not necessarily me saying ‘I, I, I” but every story is my story. I’m definitely bearing my soul on this one.”

Unlike most people I’ve always been a fan of pooh. Dude come correct always and if Dirty Pretty Things is deeper than “Dreams” then I’m all in for it!

I agree with weatherman Pooh is one of my top 5 emcees. He always got overshadowed in the light of Phonte, but when it came down to the solo records I always thought Sleepers was one of the dopest album to come out in 2005. Hate on Pooh if you want to but he is a sick man who can go line for line with anyone’s 16′s.

Pooh is like Big Boi. Both are dope in their own right, but get eclipsed by their other group member. I’d much rather have a solo Phonte rap record, but i’ll check Pooh’s out too.
