Kanye West On the Media, Michael Jackson, Janelle Monae, George Bush, etc (Video)

In a recent sit down with Minnesota’s KDWB 103.1, Ye speaks on his battle with social media, Michael Jackson, his regret of finding gossip blogs, Taylor Swift, Twitter and more. After the jump, he speaks on G.O.O.D. Fridays, the amount of hours (5,000) that were put into Power, being called a racist, and how he feels he’s been stripped of his hard work at award shows.

While he was at the actual station, Ye praises Janelle Monae (2:50 mark), speaks on the album, the artwork, if he’ll bring back the school-inspired theme and what the phoenix represents in Power. He also hints towards a “really really big” interview (which is most likely with Oprah as he’s only following her on Twitter).

  3. im pretty sure after watching the 2nd vid that hes going to keep doing this kinda stuff just to open way so he can admit he`s homosexual…not saying anything is wrong with that, but just get that vibe

  4. Sexy

  5. kanyeeeeeeeeee

  6. lol at “5000″ hours

  7. im pretty sure after watching the 2nd vid that hes going to keep doing this kinda stuff just to open way so he can admit he`s homosexual…not saying anything is wrong with that, but just get that vibe

    ^^
You did exactly what he said you were going to, major fail. Fucking hater.. Ye’s hooked up w/ finer females than you could even speak to. Smh. That’s real.

  8. wow. people need to see these videos. wow.

  9. “and If you say anything, you lose everything”

    thats some real shit Ye…

  10. @come on son the whole reason he brought that up was to show that people accuse too many people for being “gay” for acting a certain way. way to prove his point.

  11. this interviewer is a tool.

  12. i feel like hes gonna make a song with that “if you say anything, you lose everything” line

i only just realized how deep that verse on power is when he broke it down like that. poetry man

  13. DIS NIGA TOO REAL.

yes. kanye IS IMMATURE CHILDISH AND DELUSIONAL. But thats who he FUCKING IS. get over it and accept him or get the fuck out.

  14. Thank you based god

  15. Kanye West is intelligent, raw, and genuine. He’s also learned how to communicate all of that effortlessly. Dope. No words could describe his influence. He’s getting out dreams. He’s inspiring me.

  16. Also, I don’t agree about the video stint. All those videos weren’t great so his argument is his but not one I agree with.

  17. “and If you say anything, you lose everything”

  18. Gotta get the album. The Truth. Why are they laughing when he says “die nigga die”?

  19. on his twitter it said the album leaked? smh, no way you can stop shit leaking nowadays. i’m waiting and buying fuckers

  20. Amazing. Truly amazing.

  21. I’m impressed and glad that he’s come to that conclusion, at the end of that speech. “If you say anything, you lose everything.” Your opinion are in the hands of the butchers, who can and will do anything to twist the meaning and bring you down. Kanye just happens to epitomize the very meaning of the expression.

As delusional as his opinions may be, or how immature he is, I have great respect for him. He is not an asshole.

  22. Badass speech Kanye. Wow… Can’t help but think about what he is gonna do in the future. Everything he is doing now is crazy.

MBDTF – Nov. 22!!!! You know I’m driving to target to pick it up.

  23. Reading the comments, I was skeptical about what people were saying, but that was amazing. Kanye pretty much epitomizes what hip-hop is right now..and I’m okay with that

  24. I agree with Blair the interviewer is the biggest tool ever “YEAH THATS CRAZY” SMH fucking nerd

  25. can’t we get 1 day without kanye?

  26. yea good speech
this dude know how to start a promo campaign
–Why he always sound like he comin off crack in all his interviews

  27. Also, I’m going to recant my comment about Beyonce’s video because I took the time to learn about it. To help his argument, he should explain in an interview why it’s important it one over Taylor Swift’s. Just reading the wikipedia page I’m understanding more of what he was speaking on.

Him and Immortal Technique should work together.

  28. shoulda gone to the current instead.

  29. AMAZING SPEECH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  30. Fantastic interview. Completly open of how he’s feeling and he speaks the truth. You can tell how passionate he is about his music and everything he’s a tortued artists and its a damn shame.

  31. lol @ kanye realizing he just created a quotable on the spot “if u say anything you lose everything”

  34. “my level of intense genius,” he says…
Wow. This new super-cultured Kanye is way more annoying than his old shit-talking self used to be.

  35. off topic:
yall seen the “Loopy Fiasco” post on Nahright?
    LOL.

  36. First time poster, long time reader.

-I used to fucking hate Kanye west. He’d make his outlandish comparisons, he made some lame ass autotune album. As of late, I’m kind of just mesmerized by everything coming outta the damn man’s mouth. He recognizes his ridiculous social moments from the past and tries to clarify his humble attitude while still speaking his mind and what he truly believes. Personally, I find this admirable and don’t see anyone else in the GAME in any genre doing anything comparable at present time.

The man is crazy, he knows, we know it, but sometimes that’s what it takes to go to the very top.

  37. Yeah, I have issues with his metaphors but they fit his said situation. It also reflects how he feels while speaking on racism.

    Great Interview

  39. “I have to like white people more than any rapper ever. Look at my pants… look at the people I collaborate with.”

    ^^^
Look at the way you talk now

  40. good interview. great example of why you should never apologize for being literate.

  41. vote kanye 2012 for what?

he can’t legally be president, he’s not of age

  42. @Dan V, did you need pay attention? He even addressed why he talks the way he talks now.

  43. For fans to say that Kanye feel off or their not feeling his music as of now are crazy. Ever album became different from his first to now. Every rapper and fan need to take this to heart and realize that every album won’t be the same and he’s still giving us that GOOD Music. So take this to heart and reflect on the first four albums and then BUY this one cause he’s thee GOAT p.s. best comment y’all read

  44. I hope what he says on the big interview (which may very well be oprah) is as epic at this, because everyone else in the country needs to hear this. I don’t think his opinions are all that delusional, it’s his opinions, don’t judge him based off that, like who cares, fuck off! Everyone cop MBDTF and support this dude. Oh and on a lighter note, that interviewer dude is lame as fuck! But Ye do need to bring back the bear!

  45. Primero! Thank you Mr. West. Just…thank you.

  46. wow, it’s a great album. at the same time, humility is a virtue, kanye. Learn it.

  47. For those that say that Kanye has fell off or not feeling his music nowadays are crazy. Every album has changed or heard different. I believe as a artist u have to change up because ppl love you then they hate then they love you again. I think us as fans and rappers today need to refelct on what Kanye has done cause it was great then and it’s great now. You guys or girls need to reflect on every album 04-08 and know that Kanye is still Kanye but he’s bigger because of the great response he gets from us. So make sure u BUY this album, can sum1 say five mics

  48. I understand what he’s trying to say but he needs to check the facts on the Till story before he gets blasted on that

  49. Kanye REALLY likes that Single Ladies video don’t he? I’ma go back and watch it real quick.

  50. hahahaha…there isn’t a question on earth you could ask someone that deserves a 17 minute response.

Man this dude likes to talk

  51. there is no reality in celebrity.. damn

  52. I bet Kanye knows just how deep the games gets and he still just told us the surface. Not mad at him.

  53. hip hop music is the art of expression. it’s addressing important issues and breaking down social barriers, utilising the elements (that evolve through technology) as a mode of movement.

kanye encompasses all these and so much more. stop hatin and support a genuine ARTIST. a lot of you don’t understand that longevity in such a “retarded” industry is straight up DIFFICULT. i mean we all have out humble beginnings but in order to even function in the music industry, you gotta stand up for what you believe in. For this man to have been through so much in his career/life and still put out dope music (you cannot argue with that) is nothing short of amazing. that is all.

  54. i can vibe to some kanye but he gets unreal some times. he is a pop musician and talks like he is one of the greatest artists ever. please kanye pull it together. last time i checked most of the greatest artists didnt go around telling everyone how great they were and how they understand all other great artists because they are great too. time will tell who is a great artist, not the artists themselves who also mentions lady gaga in their speech about how brilliant they are. what a joke.

  55. i am really curious as to whether the rest of the world is as inspired by this dude as i am

  56. good ass interview

  57. kanye is the most intelligent and relevant artist making music today and possibly of all time.

  58. i cant belive he brought up emit till ” a neo emit till situation” *sigh*

apart from that great interview…but it just kinda reminds me of the film REQUIEM FOR A DREAM…and reminds me…LIVE IN THE REAL WORLD..DONT MAKE YOUR LIFE THE MEDIA (an observer) and just ABSORB LIKE A SPONGE.

  59. I agree Shake i think its gonna b an interview with oprah

  60. Inspiring stuff but I’m sorry you do NOT bring up Emmett Till and Nelson Mandela when talking about fucking pop culture. Kanye is a talented music and taste-maker, but he is not a public intellectual or leader of culture – it takes someone much more mature and grounded and non-bigheaded to do that. Sure he loves to talk but he’s immature, has almost NO sense of perspective, and in the end when conversation shifts to anything broader than pop music, hip hop or popular art he is absolutely out of his depth and all-around dumb-sounding. This man’s perception of himself and his place in music/human history has run way ahead of reality since the beginning of his career. Yes Kanye you have fans on every continent but you are NOT the biggest thing around even when we’re just limited to talking about music. The fact is most people on this planet have not (yet) heard of you – hell, international audiences are just now discovering Jay-Z (and by audiences I mean not just young people, but everyone). In the grand scheme of things awards shows are NOT really that important (I mean come the fuck on AWARDS SHOWS), and you are not really that important. Plus stop going on about that video – IT WON BEST VIDEO THAT NIGHT, NO-ONE DISAGREES WITH YOU. YOU WENT UP THERE CUZ YOU WERE DRUNK, END OF STORY – MAN UP, APOLOGIZE, AND GET THE FUCK OVER IT.

Why do I care so much? Because Kanye is the reason I started making music and every time he says something STUPID IMMATURE SHIT COMES OUT and it gives me the worst feeling. Please Kanye either stick to making music and trendsetting (where you can act like an infant and actually truly benefit from the fact) or GROW UP and stop thinking, speaking and behaving like a fucking CHILD.

  61. Ok kanye you can stop with the artist name dropping to emphasize you artistry. We get it your great.

  62. N!ck funny thing is people probly dont even know who emit till is. *sigh* even kanye said..”google it” lie wth??
anyway end of the day we shudnt really look to celebs to b our or our kids (one day) role models.

  63. *like wth??

  64. Thank You Kanye … so much of that needed to be said

  65. “if you say anything, you lose everything” – quote of the year, k. west

  66. He’s right about Janelle Monae

  67. Real interesting to hear all this from his own mouth. I was right there with him up until Ye compared himself to Emmet Till…… Naw dog that shit dont add up.
Regardless Ye is on the grind and I cant lie I appreciate it.
“There is no Reality within celebrity” Ye aint as crazy as everyone thinks, he just dealin with this crazy world that he has been blessed with.

  68. Why is it that anyone who talks a lot is all of a sudden a genius?
If you really dissect that speech (rant?), it was really mainly about himself and not any type of ‘reality’ or ‘movement’. He did talk a lot…and he did use some great examples.. but all to prove points about himself and how he lost everything. Dude, you HAVE everything to lose, and being in the public eye, knowing the beast that it is (and reveling in it more than most during the start of your career up until now) you just look like a child whose had his candy taken away from him.

And about that comment about how working with Jamie Foxx is great because it is a great balance to the intense level of genius that you bring… you are NOT creating any level of change in this world for the better, you are simply an artist. A good one at that admittedly. You want to elicit change, drop some dimes on the injustice going on in this world, not about the injustices going on in your delusional life. Theres a whole world of (real) suffering out there, you just need to step outside yourself to see it.

I love dude, wish nothing but the best for him, just hate how much people think he’s a genius for ‘talking a lot’ – there is not much actual substance imo…

    /hate

  69. @4H20M to Houston

Yea, now that you mention it I think I do remember him saying something about how he talks now. I don’t think he equated it to acting white though…

I don’t know, dude. I was completely toasted when I watched this.

  70. @hater – well said

  71. Kanye, please wake up. You have work to do.

  72. hater <agreed,

  73. Felt him till he started talking about Emmett Till. That was inaccurated, Emmett Till had a stutter and so it sounded like he was whistling. Other wise not a bad interview.

  74. kanye… genius… gay fish…

  75. Seriously…. he is becoming the ICON our generation needs.

  76. @Topaz – You too are wrong about Emmitt Till. He whistled to aleviate his stuttering. There are multiple stories as to what was the inciting incident that lead to his murder.

  77. GENIUS”nuff said”

  78. wtf, the vids r removed

  79. dude @hater made some great points i feel. at the end of the day it is just music + the dude touched on some great topics (creativity squandered in high school due to fear etc) but their are a lot bigger things going on in the world. i’m just as excited for this new album but props for spittin’ truth @hater.

  80. What hater said…

  81. hater made a good point, but his name makes its…. irrelevant.

Basically, I can agree with Howard Sterns (what howard stern was saying. fyi it was hella racist.) interview of eminem back in 99 (maybe 98) more than what @hater said.
    #Justsayin

  84. I really need to find the first video that was posted where he was in front a whole bunch of press and gave like a 20 min speech… not the two videos from him in the radio studio… it used to be the first one posted. Shake, do you know where I can find it?
