My wish for a fourth and/or fifth cover is to show something that is traditional hip-hop (a mic, ?uestlove’s fro, drum machine, or even a pic of Ye with the dropout bear suit on) and give us a reason to walk our happy ass to the store to buy or to buy on itunes. Do you think (and be honest with yourself) that there are a million interpretations for that short film? The answer is yes. I could find an interpretation that fits my view as well. That’s the problem, it’s all VERY interpretive. So you can’t come at me telling me I’m wrong. I can disagree with your opinion of the video, but I NOT going to tell you that you are WRONG…because I don’t know if you’re right or if you’re wrong because it’s an INTERPRETIVE piece.
Example: I could say that the film is indicative of this: see Kanye was the phoenix, coming out the gate with pink Polos and some fresh kicks, and songs that paid homage to Jesus and to his mother. That was weird. Rappers didn’t do that shit. And the one who did make a momma track (2Pac) was demonized as well while he was in the rap game. So Kanye comes out as the Phoenix. He’s confused. People talking mad shit. Then he hears the motherly voice in his head that says not to believe everything you hear. As time progresses, he realizes that he makes quite the ass of himself (i.e the so called last supper scene, where the phoenix can’t pick up the cup) and that his personal skills are lacking quite heavily. Then he breaks into song, “Runaway,” and this is indicative of him thinking about running away from it all. This is supported by the line from the track “Gone” off of the Late Registration album where Kanye says:

Then she leaves. Kanye is running at the end of film because he just pulled the Taylor Swift on Taylor Swift and everyone is demonizing him once again and he is running away from it all and running toward who he used to be, knowing that no matter what the circumstances, he will never be THAT Kanye again…
So much interpretation, so many unknowns. I’m not saying you’re wrong, I’m saying I think your version of what the film presented is a stretch.
