I totally agree, this is just a list made off popularity gained from largely radio play, and what gives them radio play is repetitive/catchy hooks, not the lyrics. I also think Eminem fell off and when you start recording with people like P!NK seriously…. it’s like he’s openly showing that he doesn’t give a shit about anything excluding record sales, because i’m pretty sure nobody who reads this blog, or any other hip-hop blog for that matter, likes P!NK….
The main thing is though, most people who listen to mainstream music, which is a large percentage of the population, will watch mtv and other music channels. Y’all forget it’s not right now, it’s 2010. Dang. Eminem had Recovery, the top selling album so far this year. He’s been consistently killing his verses on features. Drake has had a huge year too, but not nearly as big as Eminem’s. Kanye’s year is beginning to blow up huge, but still, all he has had was G.O.O.D. Fridays and the recent Runaway film. B.o.B has had a number 1 album, 2 multiplatinum singles “Airplanes” and “Nothin On You”, and a third platinum single “Magic”. B.o.B has been outshining everyone on singles that he’s been featured on. Rick Ross has had a big year as well this year, with Blowing Money Fast becoming one of the most remixed songs of the year, and his album doing well in sales. His album had some amazing production on it.
Top 5 in 2010 easily is Eminem, Drake, B.o.B, Kanye West, Rick Ross.
