Ye found an artist or a couple of artists he really likes. This is pretty clear with both the album work and cover (since Power) and his GOOD music album work in noir.
I am happy for Ye, he is getting more sophisticated. Honestly, this shit is so much better than the corny rap covers of actor-thugs mean muggin I seen for the past 20 years.

The point of artwork is to catch your eye, and it has, that’s why this post alone has 50+ comments already. Red is a very protruding color and attracts attention (why do you think all McDonald’s buildings and Wendy’s buildings have red everywhere?). Ye did his research on marketing strategy. And everything Ye does is straight from his mind, which is why it doesn’t always make sense to us. Does anyone really understand the concept of the Power “video”? No, but it’s not like he just threw a bunch of shit in the air. All this shit has a purpose to him. I don’t necessarily like this artwork, but I respect Kanye for just putting his visualizations out there. He’s not afraid to show his vulnerability, unlike too many artists.

okay, if my theory is correct, kanye is a genius for having this be his album cover.
1. by not putting his name or album title on this cd, no one knows who this is by and with an album cover like this, it’ll def spark the interest of people who don’t normally listen to kanye west or might not look at the album cus it blatantly states it is a kanye west album.
2. with a very interesting album cover like this, it’ll appeal to people who are NOT mainstream music listeners/kanye fans. he doesn’t need to attract the mainstream music listeners/kanye fans because they ALREADY know about him and will buy his album. by doing this, he’s getting a whole new crowd into his music. (trust me, people buy albums solely based off the cover)
3. i’m pretty sure this album will cross genres like no other kanye CD so, he wanted to pick an album cover that will intrigue people of all sorts of musical tastes and what better way to do that than KEEPING IT SIMPLE?
