(2)Deep: Obey Your Thirst Edition

Pete Rock & CL Smooth (1995)

Pretty safe to say that Sprite had Hip-Hop in a headlock during the early-to-late 90s with cosigns by dozens of legends. Enjoy this trip down memory lane reflecting some of the cold-funkiest marriages between Hip-Hop and viral marketing. The only two ones that are missing are A Tribe Called Quest’s and Grand Puba’s. Sorry Drake groupies, he didn’t make the list.

NaS & AZ (1997)

The Lost Boyz (1997)

KRS-One vs. MC Shan (1996)

Voltron III f. Common & Mack 10 (1998)

Live performance of Grand Puba’s Sprite verse (Someone please upload the original commercial!)

Heavy D & The Boyz (1990)

  1. good stuff!

  2. didn’t they do one with the 5 deadly venoms… mia x, amil, angie mar, roxanne shante and others or was that another soda

  3. I loved the voltron one cuz i think i was in elementary school then… 5th or 4th grade

  4. I’m sure some 16 year old hipster faggot is gonna come on here talkin reckless, so let me save you from typing this, Skinny Jean Sammy…this is real deal shit right here. You wouldn’t get a commercial if you weren’t dope. Yeah, MC Hammershit aside, these artists all etched a specific place in hiphop, and it shows by their flows on here.

  22. When I was in Jr High, I took my portable stereo and placed it next to the TV and captured the Nas & AZ commercial on tape so I could listen to it in my walkman.

I definitely remember most of these. Most definitely the St. Ides commercials should be the next series.

“I give a pound to my man with the right hand
And I, I keep the Sprite in the left hand
And I push the button when I don’t wanna hear nothin’
I let got when I wanna hear somethin’
