J. Cole – I’m On It

According to Karen, this may be another track slated to be on Cole’s Villematic, dropping hopefully before the year is out. SHAKE UPDATE: Turns out this record was originally meant for American Dreamin’: A History Lesson On J. Cole, but was saved for a later date. Still doesn’t explain where it will end up, but atleast it’s something.

  1. huh?

  2. fire

  3. Fuckin dope, nothin less than J.Cole.

  4. Eh…

  5. FUCKING FIREEEEEEEE !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  6. perty dope I didn’t know Villematic was suppose to be a mixtape

  7. This is totally different than what he usually puts out. This is fucking dope though!

  8. Cmon Son! Its J. Cole You Know This Shit Fuegooo As Fuck.

Niggas Gon Get Mad, But He’s The Best In It RIGHT Now.

  9. song is hot..cole world niggas !

  10. Lyrically J. Cole is nice but his hooks are HORRIBLE. Only a Cole stan would disagree with that and he is not in the same league as the “greats” until he fixes that problem. He might be more lyrical than Drake but Drake is 10x the songwriter that Cole is at this point. Hate on me all you want but anyone that understands songwriting would agree.

  11. It’s pretty good, not as dope as Who Dat, Blow Up, or Relaxtion. Still good tho!

  12. Huge Cole fan. But this has to be my least favorite.
He’s not making new fans with this one!

    Cole World for life! :)

  13. actually this is my least favorite j cole song

  14. @1dopepuertoricanfromjersey i agree

  15. ..cot damn…i havent heard a wack track yet!!!cole is best-out nuff said

  16. Thie mixtape isn’t called Villematic

  17. @1dopepuertoricanfromnewjersey Get Away, Dollar and A Dream II, Dreams, Premeditated Murder, Higher are all great tracks that show off good songwriting skills by Cole…he’s not as consistent as Drake but he knows how to write songs

  18. Being able to write 3 good verses + a good hook is what seperates a good mainstream artist from an underground artist. You can go into any hood and find a guy to spit 16-32 bars over a beat. Now ask him to write 3 good verses + a good hook, he will look at you like you’re crazy. My point is that Cole is nothing more than a mixtape artist as far as songwriting goes and he really needs to work on that.

  19. WATCH ME SHINE

    IGETSMONEY

  20. @Rezo thank you!

  21. I agree with everbody as far as J.cole hooks and the brigde is horrendous.. Honestly the verses are also meh…

  22. Btw the Yankees are DONE! :(

  23. @Rezo listen to the warm up and come bak to me. even the traks jonnieilluminati listed r all 3 good verses and a good hook

  24. but i’ll admit that the hook on this one isnt the greatest, but this trak is dope as hell tho

  25. The beats nice, but cole sound like a typical south artist on the hook..

  26. I have listened to The Warm Up many many times and I have never been impressed with his songwriting. I like his music lyrically and the subject matter. The Warm Up from a songwriting aspect sounds like a mixtape, which it is. I have not heard 1 Cole song where I said to myself this could be a hit or a top 20 kind of single. A lot of Cole fans try to make excuses for him by saying who cares about singles or album sales. Those same people sound like idiots because that is what Cole is making music to do. You think he makes music for fun? He makes music to sell records to make MONEY. If he doesn’t learn how to write great songs and how to be more versatile with his production he will have a Joe Budden career. Joe Budden is exactly the same as Cole where they are great lyrically but they can’t write a great song for shit.

  27. I like Cole, but this doesn’t have too much replay value. Not saying nothing he hasn’t said in previous songs. Would’ve like to have seen him in the BET cyphers instead of all that other bullshit

  28. Have You Niggas Heard iGet Up!?!?!

Drake sucks balls and tired of ppl talkin bout him in a J. Cole Post & Vice Versa.

  29. Cole on his ignorant shit. Shit is nice though…

  30. J.cole it’s ok to ask drake for help on your hook’s

  31. Just Enjoy Real Hip Hop And Stfu, Cuz You Niggas Breakin Down Te Song And Gettin Too Deep In It Its Not A Science Project.

  32. I like this cole here….His flow and this beat is not the normal for him which makes this a banga..

  33. What you guys talkin about hooks?? Hes like 90s music hooks mann. Hooks suppose to be simple in real hiphop not the whole fuckin song like Drake does. Its a Cole World. No one sicker.

  34. Anyone who says Drake sucks has no ear for music, was born retarded, or is just a flat out hater. Your favorite rapper respects Drake and so does anyone else in the music industry that knows actual talent. The only artist that might diss Drake are artist that are jealous of his success and they don’t even count anyway. I don’t really like Drake’s image and subject matter but he is VERY talented. He has that gift to write great songs and to add something to every song he gets featured on. There is maybe 2 or 3 other rappers in the game right now that you can say that about.

  35. Cole can make some nice hooks tho look up I Get Up, Hold it Down, Show Me Somthing, In the Morning.. You mainstream bitches would like that shit. Love this real shit.

  36. @1dopepuertoricanfromjersey Drake uses a ghost writer stan. Cole’s hook are shitty but atleast he is a lyrical artist w/ some buzz in the game right now.

  37. You can’t even compare Cole and Drake. Right now Drake is Kevin Durant and Cole is Derrick Rose. There is a big gap between their careers at this point and the Drake gets wayy more respect from his peers.

  38. The Drake vs J. Cole thing is stupid because J. Cole will never reach Drake’s success level. Even if J. Cole released an album much better than Thank Me Later he won’t even sell half of what Drake did. With all that said….

    Skyzoo >>>>>>>> J. Cole

  39. RT @Momma Told Me To Say Fuck Yall: Just Enjoy Real Hip Hop And Stfu, Cuz You Niggas
Breakin Down Te Song And Gettin Too Deep In It
    Its Not A Science Project.

  40. ^ You think THIS song is realer than “I Get up?” Ooooookay…

  41. ^^^ Everythings real that cole spits.

  42. Oh and J. Cole needs to stop talking about the fucking devil in every song. I know he is satan’s aka Jay-Z puppet but please enough already.

  43. People always gotta throw Drake’s name on a J. Cole post?? Artist receive the majority of their money through touring, merchandise, and other misc. things. C’mon thought that was common knowledge! Drake is more mainstream because of his targeted audience. J. Cole has a completely different targeted audience. That is what separates them!

    Song is fire though!

  44. Meh…ill never listen to it again

  45. Only reason drake is so big is because he can kinda sing and bitches go crazy over that lol

  46. ^^ LOL

  47. Songs nice. Would have been cool if it was on NBA 2k11

  48. I remember when he said his actual album was gonna drop in August. Now it’s for sure not even coming out this year.

  49. Dope. Reminds me of something I’d hear in Nba Elite or 2k11.

  50. I can’t understand how people don’t give him his props? Is it because he’s not super trendy like Drake?

  51. Hmm so we have one guy who is notorious for posting ignorant ass shit (1dopepuertorican) and one guy who believes 9/11 was a government conspiracy (Rezo) dropping knowledge together… lol, quite the tag team… Who Dat + Blow Up were dope songs with catchy hooks, so fall back you you clowns.

  52. @ D.Nick: it’s because we know he can do better based of his mixtapes..

  53. @sorry; who dat and blow up would be two examples of j.coles not so great song writing actually…

  54. Doooooope !

  55. Just realized this is probably on NBA Jam or Elite.

  56. @ Bam12393: I hope…not so good for a album…

  57. “You Niggas Breakin Down Te Song And Gettin Too Deep In It Its Not A Science Project.”

Then please pray-tell me what a c-section is for then?

The beat goes hard and the flows were ill but I’m gonna have to agree with everyone else, the hook sucks and the verses content isn’t anything we haven’t heard from Cole before. I’m not a fan of comparing artists and all that shit but as far as originality and songwriting ability goes I’d say Kendrick Lamar is a lot better than both Cole and Drake. Even when it comes to braggadocios raps he flips the script every time.

  58. Well Sinatra, I couldn’t disagree with you more.

  59. Yeah Rampz… except Kendrick Lamar sounds like he has a copious amount of pubic hairs lodged in his throat.

  60. “You niggas less rhymes more hooks”Drake>FLACKA!

  61. Yeah kendrick Lamar us better than j Cole

  62. ***IS Better

  63. I agree with YaBoyRampz ..the most impressive song by Kendrick imo is Opposites Attract – great songwriting skills with that perfect rhyme scheme within the verses from both relatable perspectives that setup the hook and bridges..
@Jake101 Kendrick voice not sexy enough for you bro?

  64. Yeah better at sounding like he just took a load from Shaq down his throat.

  65. hurt

  66. Sorry I don’t buy that whole “disregard how he sounds, you faggot” shit. It’s music, I’m LISTENING/HEARING it… why would I disregard someones voice, I’d argue that’s half the battle for some of these guys. Lyrics/Writing + Voice = It’s either enjoyable to listen to or not.

  67. @JonnieIluminati…
what are u talkin bout? lol

  68. & Rezo If You Kiss Ass Any Harder Ur Bound To Leave A Hicky.

  69. this nigga has just hit rock bottom of being wack. another piece of shit track by the one and only A. Hole. the whole fuckin’ song sounds like a chorus. this nigga A. Hole is DONE!, he ran out of ideas and now sounds even more wack than before. this is what happens when wack niggaz ain’t original. I told yall niggaz and yall niggaz didn’t listen. this nigga should of dropped the album when he had his wet dream fans slobbering his shit a year ago. now niggaz caught on to his unoriginal style and mediocre flow. A. Hole YOU WILL FAIL!

  70. Lol at mediocre flow

  71. @ Yaboyrampz

The C-section to me, is for you to give ur feedback to a song, But cot fuckin damn do u really have to write a fuckin essay bout it like niggas giva shit?? It shows you have wayyyy too much time on your fuckin hands and then you got niggas breakin shit down like from bar to bar like harvard professors . Wattup with that? Jus stfu up and enjoy and move the fuck on with urself. If you niggas wanna do all that stand outside a record label and say you wanna job there. iBet half of yall aint do this much writin in skool. And look Im doin the same ahhh the irony smfh

  72. ^^ your last sentence reflects my thoughts exactly.

  73. I love Cole, but this shit is getting repetitive. How about some Warm Up-type music?

  74. dead @ nyc/brooklyn comments

  75. The stans on this site are outrageous.

  76. Stop Comparin Him To Drake wtf They Rap Completely Different J.Cole Is More Of The Struggle Drake Is Like Lyrical Party Songs Fuck Off!!!!

  77. Wow and add another horrible hook for his song….

  78. his flow on this is 2dOpe!

  79. cosign Snagz

  80. @Mike Peterson

You’re comparing a calculated released mixtape to recent songs that are sporadically randomly released throwaways/freestyles…

    C’mon now.

  81. Skyzoo > Kendrick Lamar > J. Cole

  82. how come no one ever talks about his production?

  83. goddamn… this is definitely dope

  84. So when exactly did the J. Cole hate parade begin? SMH, no rapper is immune these days…

  85. What do you mean “dropping hopefully before the year is out”? I thought, his album would drop this year and he’d release Villematic before that. Releasedates in Hip Hop are a joke.

    Decent track though.

  86. PEOPLE LOVE TO HATE THE BEST

HATE MEANS YOUR HOT in 2010

  87. This song is maaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaad old… still fire tho..

  88. @NYC/BROOKLYN

U DESERVE A “U MAD?” POSTER FOR CHRISTMAS

  89. this sound like its going to be on nba elite

  90. is that mixtape offical tho?

  91. The guy who sad “Skyzoo > J.Cole” is a fucking idiot, Skyzoo is gonna go nowhere with his career.

  92. It’s pretty good, not as dope as Who Dat, Blow Up,

  93. – i asked a couple of friends about jcole at work …they sayin…jcole whooo….jcole whooooo

  94. The attention and response that one j. Cole song brings from all the stans/haters is absurd…j.cold and drake are both great artists who want to work together, when that song finally gets released yall tops will explode you won’t know wether to hate it or love it…

  95. @Jake101 my bad that was supposed to be at @tugehitties lol

  96. i mean, cole is great, lyrically but, he bores me…idk…it’s probably his beat selection, IMO (who dat is an exception…that beat is illl shittt. and this one is pretty good) i mean, idk…something about him i just don’t feel…idk, he’s good but i’m no fan…

this is one of his better songs

  97. I’m tired of J. Cole’s ignorant shit, go back to The Warm Up style ASAP.

  98. why is it called villematic? it doesn’t seem to have any relation/similarities to “Illmatic”

  99. i asked a couple of friends about jcole at work …they sayin…jcole whooo….jcole whooooo

22222 said this on October 20th, 2010 at 6:10 pm

    ^^^^^^^

wow…i live in the ‘burbs and go to a predominantly white “preppy” high school and all the kids nut hug j. cole and other new rappers (it’s apparently the “in” thing, nowadays)

  100. J. Cole has a lot of potential…i think the biggest obstacle for him is his beat selection and content, but i think he’s capable of doing great things…however, i’m not digging this song…

  101. villematic isnt a mixtape. damn meka dont you watch your own posts?

  102. i love how shake gave away coles album title non-chalantly

  103. I mean this aint his worse song (look in the mirror remix) but this shit is a throwaway track and now yall puttin him with bums like Kendrick Lamar you see when an artist like cole constantly goes 100% on all they songs one mediocre song turns pploff but fuck yall cole world

  104. FIRST, MOTHERFUCKERS!!!!

  105. man yall need to hear j.cole good game thats the best song by him

  106. villematic is supposed to be a mixtape and i think his albums gonna be called cole world

  107. this song sucks you people overhype underrated artists too much this guy is nothing special fuck off

  108. Rihanna signs to roc nationhttp://www.rap-up.com/2010/10/20/rihanna-splits-with-manager-signs-to-roc-nation/

  109. Drake is more lyrical ??? ummmmmm…..

Did u not hear thank me never every song was
about the same shit and the hooks didnt even go
    with the song it self

    someone please explain to me
how drake is more lyrical when all
i heard was the same bullshit on his
    album ?

  110. and this song is just what? Just a mixtape
song be real judging off of mixtape shit material

j.cole new album > thank me never

  111. Oh Timothy, have you heard J.Coles album? I could have sworn it wasn’t even out yet, or even had a single yet. You must be an industry insider right? Nah, you’re just another cynical c-section troll who feels better after they post their hating ass comments. I’m done.

  112. Villematic was just a song, not a project. Cole said so himself

  113. @lol thank you for answering my question lmao
and hating? can you please tell me the meaning
of that word from my statement that i wrote
to bring the substance to tell me how i was
hating? or what i just wrote was to over
ur damn mind u cant answer lmao

  114. Drake can put together good tracks, i will give him that. but be real..cole is better. And this song is ehh for him, we all know he can spit better than this so i dunno what the hate is for. I mean dam Relaxation the only track in a while that made me press rewind like a million times.

  115. Well to start you named it “Thank Me Never”… then you compared it to a CD that hasn’t been created yet and said it’s worse. Need I explain anything else? And why the fuck do you type like that? Answer me this…
    I mean really,
    who types like this?
    What is the point
    of cutting off your sentence
    like you’re writing a verse?

  116. fuckin’ dope
going to see him this Saturday at SUNY Delhi :)
    can’t wait!

  117. but forealz, drake doesnt produce his own shit, skyzoo is fuckin dope but he doesnt either, soo yall gotta think about how much work j cole is doing. and drake raps about champagne and heartbreaks…. so if you like him you got that estrogen running in your veins

  118. if you really listened to all 3 j cole mixtapes you fuckin know he can write a damn hook

  119. Lmao @ lolumadbro’s comment.

@TugeHitties – You state your opinion to me like it’s fact. I’m entitled to my own opinion as are you.

@Momma Told Me To Say Fuck Yall – Lol, you’re going on like I spent an hour writing 6 drafts of my comment. Clearly you’re the one wasting time as you sat down here reading a shit load of comments. Complaining about people analyzing tracks isn’t gonna change it from happening so just keep it moving.

  120. @Rezo and @nyc/brooklyn i cant believe yall put drake over j cole… wow. all the ppl who threw skyzoo out know what up, thats a legitimate comparison. but thank me later is worst album of the year, drake’s dumb ass rapping off beat and shit

  121. smfh at saying there hasn’t been a single out yet, ya’ll niggas sleeping.

  122. damn dat nigga switchin tha flow all over tha place with track. never a dissapointment when it comes to this nigga man. not tha best track but its still ill.

  123. Skyzoo’s album with Illmind “Live From The Tape Deck” is way better than any project J. Cole has released and his first album “The Salvation” is just about as good as “The Warm Up”. J. Cole might produce his music but skyzoo is a better mc by far. Especially if you lke lyrical ability with the ability to actually write SONGS. No true hip hop fan can listen to “Live From The Tape Deck” and say that shit isn’t beyond dope.

  124. okay okay I will be the first to say that jcole is one of my favorite artist in the game right now but damn I couldn’t even get past him dancing with the devil come on cole we need you to move forward with some more of the that thought provoking shit not this I want the money cars in clothes shit here! He has done much better plus I thought his shit was suppose to drop this month!

  125. not his best but its still better than a lot of other peoples songs, cole world

  126. @lol i wasnt comparing thank me never to j.coles
album that hasnt came out YOU IDIOT I ASKED A SIMPLE
QUESTION dumbass, and me putting this j.cole new album > thank me never isnt comparing albums its pretty saying his new album will be better and im pretty shur i dont have to wait for it because uhhhh everysong wont be about the same shit

i write like im writing a verse YOU MAD?
because my writing is like poerty lmao hahahahhahahaha

your probably upset in front of you computer right now
    mad lmao

  127. not a fan of this one………….. nope.

  128. @random did u really say Kendrick Lamar is a bum? Just because u a J. Cole stan don’t mean u gotta minimize other rappers, Cole and Lamar are both dope at times Lamar sounds 10 times better than Jermaine

  129. And yall know Cole is gettin a little bit of a mainstream buzz lately cause of his feature on All I Want Is You…I know a lot of girls that out of the blue are fans of him now when they used to only listen to Drake like that..same with Wale since he featured on that Waka Flocka Roscoe Dash song, random girls claim they fans now

  130. Please tell me Villimatic is a mixtape not an album.

  131. 130 comments? Why you’d think Jermaine was the patron saint of this site. Good grief.

  132. @ ATL. GTFO with making up shit about me saying Flake is better than A. Hole. I’m on record on here for the longest saying both Flake and A. Hole are equally wack. it’s people like you and the rest of these A. hole wet dream fans that bring up the comparisons of both them wack niggaz.

  133. i give him an A because he obviously took it back to 92 with this one!

  134. J. cole got the torch.
hes gonna kill every fucker in this game in years.

  135. This that Jay Z I Can’t Get With That Flow. Betta Learn Before You Burn Boy!

  136. ““The Salvation” is just about as good as “The Warm Up””

    ———–

    lol, be serious.

  137. smh, how can anyone question the songwriting abilities of the guy who wrote It Won’t Be Long?

  138. Ya’ll Know this song is almost a year old like around august 09 so that’s probably why he has some recycled lines. I’ll put this under the tab- Old J.Cole

  139. J. Cole is on the Blow Up!

  140. @Timothy, dog, you can’t say you aren’t comparing the albums and then proceed to compare the albums. the greater than symbol (>) is literally only used for comparison. you are a retard.

  141. I can fuck with this.

  142. @jjgp1112 THANK YOU!!

finally someone who recognizes “It Wont Be Long” as a great example of songwriting by J.Cole, with a catchy hook and RADIO PLAY written all over it.

  143. Meh it’s a mixtape joint meaning it ain’t supposed to be that good anyways..it’s an alright track not the best.. COLE WORLD

  144. first!

  145. never heard this guy before :o
    fkn doooooope

  146. over a 100 comments when a j.cole related post is made….hmmm..to me it seems like j.cole is doing just fine so stfu u idiots!…j.cole is a great artist..very talented producer and a rapper with great songwriting skillz…and umm whoever said joe budden can’t write songs ur a pure dumbass…hvnt u hear 3 sides to a story, pray for me, in my sleep, exxes, all of me, hello expectations, sidetracked, better me, these are bob dylan-esk songs to uplife and make you think thats what song writing should be not catchy hooks and simple rhymes…thats pop music, jingles..to sell merchandise..DON’T U EVER IN UR LIFE SAY DRAKE WRITES BETTER THAN JOE BUDDEN OR JCOLE…drake is a formula…a simple artist that had great talent but not a complex mind..he’s ur typical people pleaser…thats not what j.cole is…he has an agenda, a purpose and its not to please you rather its to shed light upon those who seek knowledge so take ur simple ass somewhere else

  147. nice track

  148. jcole is killer when he creates tracks without a chorus. this chorus is pretty fruity tooty

  149. This is the J Cole that I have been waiting to hear…

  150. Dudes be saying you a so&so Stan yet they have to know the song to use that generalization or they are bandwagoning.

  151. hell no! did this whack motherfucka jock Nas wit dis cover??!?!?!? Fuck that!! Nas a legend this dude is just fuckin’ lunch meat

  152. ^^Thats why the mixtape is called Villematic. Its supposed to mirror Illmatic cover you idiot.
Villematic is a mixtape, all you fools are sayin its not but it is.
This song is old anyway. Gettin butt hurt over an old fly ass song. smh

  153. everyone redoes nas’ cover, let that go already

  154. J. Cole needs to get other people on the hook. But where Drake can do both verses and hooks, Cole can do both verses and beats.

  155. as far as the (overall) music…

    Skyzoo > J Cole > Drake

    as far as just lyrics…

    J Cole > Drake > Skyzoo

    as far as just hooks…

    Drake > Skyzoo > J Cole

    THAT’S WHAT A FUCKING C-SECTION IF FOR!

  156. * IS FOR!

  157. Mixtape coming sometime in the next two week
    It’s titled FRIDAY NIGHT LIGHTS

  158. ^ weeks*

  159. FRIDAY NIGHT LIGHTS. 11/12/10.

  160. Great info I am curious to find out what weblog platform you’re using? We are having several small safety issues with my latest blog and I would want to discover anything more secure. Are there any solutions? Incidentally did you hear, about the Dalai Lama’s nephew was killed in US accident!
