eyedea was affiliated with rhymesayers (alongside slug, atmosphere, p.o.s., brother ali) & the orphanage super crew (w/aesop rock, slug, illogic, blueprint, etc.) before he was officially on the roster as eyedea & abilities… before his first lp release, “first born,” he had a tape out called divide & conquer that he made. he was known as a battle mc and won scribble jam 99 (vs p.e.a.c.e. of the freestyle fellowship/goodlife/project blowed) and has won countless other mc battles, but he was also a good song writer.

i think its a sad reminder of peoples attitudes today that people can come onto this site and see that a HUMAN BEING has died and they choose to waste their time insulting not only him but his fans and supporters. like others have said it shouldn’t matter whether or not you like his music, its the fact that someone who has people that love and care about him died and its the right thing to do to respect that.

The reason Eyedea had not been on this site is because his “prime” was before this site became popular for dumb ass herbs, although him and abilities recently released a new album Eyedea had been exploring other genres of music singing for a rock band. I never was a huge fan of music besides a few choice songs , thought it was a little too weird as he would admit himself (check the song weird side), but he is one of the best off the dome freestylers I have ever heard and his closing verse in the blaze battle vs. Shells is still one of the best battle verses I will ever hear. Dont comment if your just a cynical fucker who wants attention. Also , Eyedea is from St. Paul not Minneapolis, even though we all know that the Ap is the better of the twin cities.

Thank you for what you brought to the world, man. you’re music was a gift that changed my life. i remember when i first got into RSE after buying a couple atmos albums and brother ali’s shadows on the sun EP (ya this was when ppl still bought CD’s) i decided these E&A cats would be worth checking out. I bought the First Born album and it was the definition of awesome lyrical headphone music. I remember sitting in study hall pressing pause on my diskman every 5 seconds and trying to write down the lyrics to “Birth of a Fish.” Such a stellar album. I have to admit i haven’t listened to By the Throat (the newest E&A album) at all really, but i’m gonna go to 5th element tomorrow and cop it on vinyl. i owe it to michael, like shake said, rest in paradise
