The Cool Kids Are Now Free Agents

Last night Chuck Inglish took to Twitter to let the fans know that they have officially been released from their (now former) label, Chocolate Industries, giving them the chance to make and release music “without the bs“. Hopefully this means When Fish Ride Bicycles will see the light of day much sooner than later.

  1. Didn’t know they were on a label…

  2. DD172 & Def Jam?

  3. Bad couple days for the music industry..first Lupe exposed the Atlantic situation, then Nas’s email, now Cool Kids gettin out of their deal..moral of the story is..major record deals are overrated, go independent, do what Wiz or Curren$y did.. Jets!

  4. ^^ this

  5. ^^ J*E*T*S ^^

(maybe get Lupe on their too if G.O.O.D. music dont sign him)

  6. Good shit.. now I need that ‘Pedal to the Metal’ joint ASAP!!!

  7. I guess

  8. good shit for theez niggaz. Better hope they dont end up like my nigg papoose…considered one of the best lyricists of all time but he aint got that label money

best way to go is make ur own label, cool kids are pretty unique they could start they own movement…without the bs

  9. hell yea. shits gonna be tight

  10. Link up with Dame

  11. i say they go G.O.O.D.

  12. “good shit for theez niggaz. Better hope they dont end up like my nigg papoose…considered one of the best lyricists of all time but he aint got that label money”

    ^
just wondering….who is considering papoose one of the best lyricist of all time? Did i miss that somewhere?

  13. GOOD or Jets but they should stay indie. Mad unique sound

  14. ey smiffi

to each his own ,but if u don’t at least respect papoose for being a real lyricist (listen to alphabetical slaughter or ANY of the law libraries)

im not even a big pap fan but if u listen to law library (any part) and come out not at least respectin pap then you should call urself a hip hop fan…not rap…no disrepect

  15. Did someone just mention “Papoose”? Shit…. is…. going…. down.

  16. Waiting for these fish to hit my neighborhood on wheels

  17. Why do some people say shit like ‘they should join GOOD or DD172′?.. Lol Shit like that duz not just happen..

Anyway these dudes definately have the whole JETS potential and could really make it big, plus i think they are established well enough in the game already.

    Word to Chuck Inglish

Still waiting on that Mikey Rocks project, damnit

  18. Fuck joining GOOD or JETS. Cool Kids are dope enough to make their own movement. Being associated with the jets and good is different than being a Curren$y underling like Young Roddy and Trademark the skydiver. Those cats don’t do shit and can’t make it on their own. Cool Kids been around long enough to make their own bread on the indie route.

  19. yeeee now with record label setting dates and so on,that album will never come out. get ready for another forty fucking mixtapes

  20. yeeee now with no record label setting dates and so on,that album will never come out. get ready for another forty fucking mixtapes

  21. I thought they were with Green Label Sound? Oh well.

All I know is there are probably only 2 or 3 label they can sign to that probably doesnt have the bullshit they dont want to around.

Many people have said G.O.O.D. Music. Mos Def just signed to them so I can see that. Blu Roc, with Dame Dash, Curren$y just signed to him. And if Jay-Z is really letting J.Cole do whatever he wants to artistically then I would say Roc Nation. But those are the only labels I can see them signing with right now. Or just goin the Indie route.

  22. Cool Kids already fuck w/ Dame the long way. Theyve done records w/ Ski Beatz and Curren$y. Theres a million videos on Youtube of them at the 24 Hour Karate School/DD172. So w/ that being said I could definitely see them signing to Dame and getting distributed by Def Jam the exact same way Spitta is doing it. Honestly, indie dealing, recording, managing, and writing along w/ major distribution is the way of the future for hip hop. Niggas is tired of getting black balled by execs and forced into making a certain type of music that isnt them just to sell more records. Good luck to Cool Kids and their future, now they can make their own decisions

  23. Oh and also expect Asher Roth to be in the same position as the Cool Kids very soon. He will probably bump heads w/ his record label and then get let go. More than likely i could see him signing w/ Dame also cuz he is at the Karate School alot also. And as for Lupe, that dude is in a whole lot of shit and Atlantic might have him sittin still for a couple more years. Which is mad depressing cuz unlike Papoose, Lupe is actually seen as one of the best lyricist/artist of this time and he music deserves to be released to the masses

  24. What nigga in their right mind would sign with a label named “Chocolate Industries”??? They must have been desperate back then.

  25. Seen these cats perform and they talented, and there music is outta this mundo. Young cats that need to get a better understandment of the BUSINESS is often. This phase of (COOLKIDS) make em sharper, and could cure whats already been fucked up in this Rap Game.ITS not what could you do,its what you can prove. – D.Washington
