Today marks the celebration of the legendary X-Ecutioners member, Roc Raida’s life. Amongst the tight-knit turntablism community, The X-Ecutioners were well respected by turntablists and Hip-Hop heads alike. I remember collecting many of the DMC and ITF videos on VHS and just blown away by the entire crew’s skills. Rob Swift with his kung-fu style body tricks, Total Eclipse, Mista Sinista and of course Raida and his incredible juggling skills. Many may not know, but Raida also lent his production skills to a few classic albums, including Big L’s On the Mic, Show & AG’s Time For (Goodfellas) and Live From The PJs (Revolutions) using that same beat that Jada stunted on while bodying Beanie Sigel. i remember seeing the X-exutioners showcase at the ’99 dmc world finals & then meeting Raida the next year at the US Finals at Irving plaza, he was mad respectful and appreciated everyone showing him love, one of the most illest that i ever seen.
