Being a Little Brother fan, I went to see Phonte at a local club as he was in town promoting YahZarah that certain night. There wasn’t a huge crowd, but the crowd that was there was predominantly African American & Hispanic. I waited until after the show to approach Phonte (he had just got done talking with some fans and was not busy at all), to tell him about my enthusiasm for his Hip Hop group. I put my hand out for a handshake and he walked right by, obviously brushing me off as some lame-o fan. On top of that, I made my way to YahZarah to tell her she had a beautiful voice with the likes of Erykah Badu. Her response: “I don’t want to hear that other voice bullshit white boy”.. I am no longer a Little Brother fan, nor will I ever waste a second of my time on YahZarah’s music. They were both graceless and unappreciative.

FIRST OFF:
No artist enjoys hearing the typical “You sound like…..”. It is actually offensive to them. Artists seek originality and don’t like to hear that their talents are copies of someone elses. And my personal encounter with Yahzarah was very humbling. You must have offended her and should think back to how you stepped to her.
SECOND:
To YOU phonte was not busy. But he is human. For all you know, he just got off the phone with his wife and his mother in law has passed. I doubt this is the case, but my point is, the man is human. If something is troubline him, which you don’t know, why would he wanna talk “hip hop” with you. Plus, rappers don’t look forward to chatting it up with dudes..they wanna look at/talk to bitches.
@senseicommon
come on man, why would you expect them to go out of their way to talk with you, its probably the last thing they feel like doing after a show. put yourself in their shoes. also, that Badu bullshit is wack. you’re a fool for saying that.
Need some cheese to go with that whine?
^Stop defending someone you don’t know. I went to the hip-hop live concerts a few years ago and after Little Brother’s set was done, Rapper Big Pooh actually went out into the crowd to chill out and listen to the music for a bit.
I spotted him and asked him if I could take a picture with him. He said “yeah sure man”, after that it was daps, and I said good performance man and said thanks. He then took pictures with other people that noticed it was Pooh.
I didn’t meet Phonte and he didn’t seem to be in the crowd with Pooh but what dude said above could be true. After all, the whole Little Brother as a group thing went down mainly between Phonte and 9th anyways. The point is, Yazarah could have just brushed it off, I mean after all he was just one fan, but to take it out on him? Come on man.
