(2)Deep: V/A – Hip-Hop For Respect [2000]

“Cee Cipher Punks couldn’t hold us…”

Normally, (2)Deep focuses on Hip-Hop of the early to mid-nineties, but for this one, we’re creeping a few inches past the border. Hip-Hop For Respect was a compilation released in 2000 in response to the murder of Amadou Diallo and police brutality in general. The EP, released via Rawkus, gathered up some of the most respected artists to craft four posse cuts of immense backpacking proportions. We’ll focus on these three here. Rest In Peace Amadou Diallo, Sean Bell, and Oscar Grant.
