Here’s my million dollar question: why is it when an artist that gets independent/underground acclaim goes “public,” those same “critical darlings” are even quicker to turn on them? In my opinion Cole’s music has not suffered or changed in any way, shape or form since his rise in popularity, but have the world listen to the folks in the c-section you’d have thought he did a song for the BET Uncut crowd. Anyways, Grown Simba was live and direct at Atlanta’s Centerstage performing a few cuts, and Legally Crazy were on hand to catch some of it. More down bottom.

Haters gon’ hate.
“People really hate when a backpack rapper get rich and start livin that life, dawg”"
I dont understand it either Meka
CoSign Meka,That’ how you know J Cole has arrived, The same niggas that use to show luv to him are the same niggas showing hate to him now.
I agree man, on some recent songs, comments were all so negative I started to question my own judgement
And then I realised. There is not one j cole song I dislike. Sign of a good artist. Haters are gonna hate, that’s their job, even if its an unpaid job their spare time is taken up on comment sections spreading negativity out of pure jealousy. COLE WORLD!
It needed to be said. In the commercial side of HipHop now that he has made the transition, J.Cole is one of a few good things in it. I’ve seen no change in the way he approaches his songs, He has always held a note on a hook now and then. I think it just sparked a reaction in a few people because of the regurgitated lyrics from who dat provided an opportunity to hate more then usual.
meka its beacasue they dont really love music, they love being able to say only they know about the music.
that and u get mega trolls in the c section u neva can tell what public opinion is i mean that psssst font who spams every c section cud be 10 different ppl for all we know.
Word Meka. People are just mad.
But anyway, dope performances by Cole
MEKA any word on Kanye releasing a song today he said he was gonna release sumthing from himself or g.o.o.d music every friday last week on his twitter

i agree with u shake his music or style hasnt changed the just the level of bitchassness from these unpleaseable hip hops fans. j.cole is a great artist and soon wil be a top 5 mc. quit hatin on homie. evrybody like oh is 2009 shit better than 2010 wtf get outta here its the same. only difference is he aint dropped a project yet.
Damn, it didnt hit afternoon yet and yall bitching for the new G.O.O.D music already… relax
my thing is they did the same thing to drake i just saw a comment saying this is when drake can actually rap ,like wtf drake a beast come on know tell me yall havent been bumping so far gone and thank me later for a minute j.cole the same way he was a year ago he the future niggas gonna hate cuz idk haters never have a reason j.cole/drake the future of this rap shit period
eazy< please quote where there was any bitching i just asked meka cos he is the type of person if any1 who wud have a heads up if something was gonna b released by kanye.. please back up ur comments or dont say anything AT ALL.
J Cole’s dope.
BUT….his 2009 shit > his 2010 shit.
BUT (again)…his 2010 shit is still better than 90% of material other artists are releasing.
Someone in the C section told me to keep on board that most of these recent tracks are throwaways and won’t even make the album, this made me feel better about his slight decline.
That’s pretty much how i feel.
Uhhh… my issue with this whole debate about 2009 vs. 2010. J. Cole has only released ONE official song in 2010. So, what barrings does 2009>2010 have. He hasn’t put out enough stuff to say he changed. That added verse on Star is Born was hot, It won’t Be long was hot and Who Dat? is raw. So… I don’t see a change.
j.cole is one of the best things to happen to commercial hiphop in a long time. I was glad to see Jay-z had actually signed him when he came out. Dudes got great story telling skills, dope metaphors, can produce bangers…..who out now a days aside from kanye, is producing their own shit and having it sound dope. The warm up is classic…and i like 98% of all the newer stuff dropping. “Who Dat” kills anything on the radio right now.
Glad meka spoke on this, because I even had to say somwthing when the influx of negaative comments came in from his song the one” It clearrly was a rough drafth and people started flying off the mouth about hoe he sucks now, to be honest nothing he’s released so far has been “crazy” but it surely hasn’t been subpar,I know he got somethin “crazy” on the way…….
all i wanna say about j. cole is that i love the dudes music, hes definitely one of the top young gunners in the game….but dudes ear for and selection of beats has gotten worse since his mixtape days…i mean i guess some people are feelin these new jams but the beats are so EHHHHH that it ruins it for me IMO. my favorite J cole song is grown simba bc the beat is soooooo dope and he just slaughters it
i got to meet cole b4 this show cool dude wasnt expecting him to be 6’4 like me either and i was standing at the front of the stage during it he and wale killed it that night
and @bloodmoney, big krit is a better example of rapping/producing his own beats, his beats are illllllllll son. not to mention hes one of the few young southern rappers who have a decent vocabulary, a good flow, and isnt a complete waste of life.
Clearly my comment was also a “rough draft”.lol
J.COLE ON THE COME UP>>>>>>>>>>EVERYTHING SINCE THEN
J.COLE ON THE COME UP>>>>>>>EVERYTHING SINCE THEN
Big Krit ‘My interpretation’ is dope, that’s how Cole used to spit. And that track’s better than any recent Cole joint.
J. Cole’s dope and I wish him success with the new album. The only critique I have (and it’s one that i’ve had since I first heard his music) is that I think he should expand his content, get a little more creative with the themes in his music. That said, I think it’s great to see a fellow SJU alum doing his thing.
cole is so sick. those last lines in star is born will always get me!!
” the flow colder than shoulders of gold diggin hoes when a broke boy approach her, i told u im focused man i let yall boys out there soak it in now clap for em”
fuggin love it
true talk Meka…write your next blog on something along those lines..”why do fans decide to absurdly criticize rappers when they go public?”
Meka, that’s not a “million dollar question” that’s just you throwing in your “2 cents” opinion. if you think A. Hole hasn’t “suffered or changed” you my friend haven’t payed close attention to the deterioration of A. Hole as an artist. this isn’t about people turning their backs on artists. this is about see through artists fronting on skills and originality they just don’t have. he’s trying to portray himself as a hip hop purist, but is contradicting himself to show mainstream versatility he doesn’t have. his songs are amateurish with no theme or structure. his beats are boring, and it’s not like other emcees are knocking on his door for some of his beats. overall I think the nigga is wack. his wet dream fans overrated him from one mixtape, and now don’t want to admit or accept he’s not what they thought he was.
Hip hop fans are fickle. It’s been proven.
Am I the only Cole fan who thinks “Grown Simba” would have been a MUCH better first single compared to “Who Dat”?
J. Cole has released 4 official songs. Those being “The Blow Up”, “Who Dat”, “It Won’t Be Long”, and “Premeditated Murder”. All them other songs are throwaways. Niggas just wanna a reason to hate smh
^^ Are you stupid? “Who Dat” is his official single off his album and he shot a video for it. “It Won’t Be Long” is also on his album, he said it on Ustream. Then he started talking shit about people that are leaking his songs. Those songs just sound like throwaways because they are terrible but they are both on his album.
those who gon hate then hate but for me and JCole fans out here know that he is a artist and he hasnt put out any weak song yet
Come Up: A+
Warm Up: A
New Shit: A-
Can’t complain with an A student
its because J. Cole doesn’t belong to them anymore. Like Phonte said, rap fans want to put rappers in a box, LITERALLY. They want to package the rapper up, throw him in plastic, and take them home like an action figure. once they start getting acclaim, that artist is no longer “there’s”, and they feel some type of way about it. thats why you always hearing people saying things like “so & so was better when he came out”…
J.cole 2Dope I’m Copping My Local’s Bestbuy Supply Of Cole’s Debut When It Drop’s
@ Rezo
I never said they weren’t on his album! And just because them songs suck to you doesn’t mean everybody feel the same way. You the type of nigga Meka was talkin about smh
@ qwan
COSIGN!
COsign LAKERS > heat.
That’s how i feel.
J Cole is tight but I honestly thought who dat was soooooo whack…
Who dat is straight fire! I’m really hoping dude bucks the trend. We need more pure MC’s gettin shine and he definitely seems focused on trying to deliver a special album that’ll stand out from what every1 else is doing right now.
