Bring It Back: Atmosphere x Juelz Santana x The O’Jays

Slow times around the internets tonight so I figured I’d bring it back once again. Coincidentally The O’Jays’ original Who Am I was sampled on both my favorite Juelz Santana track and (one of my) favorite Atmosphere records. The latter being a song that I can relate to on far too many levels. Especially the first verse (w/ my son little brother) and second (w/ my pops). The poignant meditation throughout is remarkable in my opinion. One of the reasons Slug will forever stay in my top two, as far as hip hop emcees go. Interchangeable with Jay-Z, depending on the day. Talk about different playing fields, right?

  11. Man 2 of my fav. songs right here. Atmosphere really put his all into that track I remember when I 1st heard it. Def made me a fan of his music. Juelz came with it too. With that sample I’d imagine it’d be hard not to.

  13. these bring it back posts reminded me how great atmosphere is. ‘sunshine’ and ‘little man’ have to be two of my favourites. can forget tracks like ‘feel good hit of the summer 2,’ ‘the old style,’ ‘guarantees,’ and the whole ‘overcast’ album is just raw.

I didn’t know it was possible to have a favorite Juelz Santana track though…and not because he has so many great ones to choose from. But, that’s just me.
