Bring It Back: ATCQ – Stressed Out f. Faith Evans & Consequence [1996]

This right here is one of my favorite hip hop records of all time (definitely in my top 10 to say the least). Anytime I’m feeling down and out, the second single off ATCQ’s fourth album Beats, Rhymes and Life gets put into constant rotation. And I know I’m not the only one.

  11. WOW amazing throwback! This track takes me back…hip-hop was such a contagious thing. This when Con came out the blue! It grabbed you without even trying to prove something or sell records. Too bad that’s around when Tribe Called Quest was on it’s way out ironically that’s around when Busta Rhymes was getting bigger.

  12. dope

  13. fuck this, where’s the new lupe?

  14. I still have the promo T shirts from when the album was about to come out and one is still fresh and rocked.

  15. *DEAD* at the Lupe comment.

Props on posting this, figured it would go up considering I saw your tweet.

  16. ATCQ> DE LA SOUL> Main Source> Digable Planets

you know you cant even say which group was best because they all were great and this is not full list of great groups that i listen to daily

  17. was “back to school” shopping at urbanoutfitters today.
bought a tribe shirt and had to explain to mi padre about why atcq is so great.
he didn’t get it, his loss.

  18. BR&L could be my favorite hip-hop album of all time. Low End Theory is a damn close second though.

  19. WHERE THE FUCK IS LUPE

  20. Shake is feeling down because his wallet got stolen….and because Lupe raped him again

  21. Who remembers the ill cover art that moved.

  40. CLASSIC music right here, this is real hip-hop.

  41. def a classic. this song has stayed on my ipod since i got my ipod

  42. this and the remix are my favorites

  43. Ive never heard tis song. Downloading now, but will definitly check it out since you say it is in your top 10. Ive been down with hip hop since 1987. I purchased cassette tapes of Fat Boys, Public Enemy, Run DMC, MC Lyte, etc. My 1st compact disc was K9 Posse. But for some reason never got into ATCQ (except for I Left My Wallet…’. I got the song on now. Thanks.

  44. this version is aight, but raphael saadiq’s remix is mo better…check that if you can. ray ray laces the beat as always.

  45. Love this track with a passion. Each and every element complements the others so well :) This is definitely in my top 10 and in addition, this is my go-to track in times of adversity… Dillaaaaaa!

  46. Mos def one of the standout cuts from this LP. Best part of it for me is the interpolation of Anita Baker’s “Good Love” from her “Giving You The Best That I Got” album.

  47. Best hip hop group of all time imho.
