2. Written rhymes rapped over a beat, with a meaning/hook.
both are freestyles this would just be #2.

@MagnumOpus You couldn’t be more wrong. White rappers have like 7 times the potential fanbase. There are a million black emcees who can do this and will never get the same looks. The music industry has always made millions off of white artists repackaging black music for white audiences who like black music but “can’t relate” to black artists/people. White privilege is pervasive, even in hip hop.
And that’s not to take anything away from talented white artists, thats just how it is. But this is average to me. Not sold.
was it written? probably. Was it super lyrical? not that much. Does he have a nice delivery? no doubt. Can you judge him on swag?….da fuck,that is just weird. i cant recall supporting an artist due to there “swag,” shit sounds like you need a no homo. I like him, he has his lane and he doesn’t stray away from it. weed and bitches just like wiz and curren$y. His mixtape has some bangers and some shit i could do with out. he is alright.
Mac’s got talent, that’s for sure, and I see a lotta potential in him. Kid’s only 18 and doin’ it, you gotta give him props for that. But I highly doubt this was a freestyle (as should most). Most rappers go into a radio interview knowing they might/will get asked to kick some bars, and thus, are mentally prepared to do so. Now whether it’s really a freestyle or written is up to the artist, but to save face (and to maintain an image) all emcees will have raps stored in the back of their mind for such situations. Still though, big ups to Mac Miller.
He can rap but his lyrics are just the epitome of average. He’s Asher Roth with more talent.
This was good, but the guy is seriously AVERAGE. Its like I want to get into him, but just can’t… He has nothing solid behind him yet. I appreciate the drive though. I guess time will tell. Maybe his new found 15 mins will get him connected to people who will help him out.
