P-Funk – Cool f. Cee-Rock x Legends Never Die

The Bay Area rap-resurgence representative is back with two original cuts off his debut Paid Time Off (if you dig what you hear, you can grab it for a cool $9.99). The first joint is perfect braggadocio, bucket-low-like-fuck-it-though music for these extended summers, featuring Ceerock. The second track he’s hitting you with is cinematic in nature, with clever wordplay; the second verse leading into a repentance of sorts. Both tracks produced by Ri$ky Biz.

  1. No offense to KNOWxONE, but you need to work on you’re linguistic skills homie. You lack personality and your writing reads like a poorly written review with hackneyed cliches. You don’t need to tell us that the second verse leads to a redemption of sorts, you said enough when you called it cinematic, don’t give too much away. It’s too long in general for a guy not many people care about. You don’t even see posts this long for Nas joints unless their important in their own right. I know this is more coherent than 99% of the dreck that people post in the c-section (Even though it’s highly unlikely anyone will read this), but it’s whateva. If you guys ever need a proofreader, I’m lookin at you Mek, editor, whatever, I’m a senior writing major who knows his shit when it comes to the written word and hip-hop. SO GET AT ME.

  2. ^^^wow ..its a blog..its personalised..meka n shake make mistakes all the time.(and rant and diss and complain) thats the charm of the site. Your going toooo deep on a post blurb dude. enjoy the music.

  3. Walterchronkite you’ve got a handful of misspellings in your own rant alone…

  5. *sigh* The Bay Area native in me wanted to check this dude out (pause). Turns out, he’s nothing special. No disrespect, but his bars are weak, the beats were mediocre, and he have no type of charisma. When is somebody going to bring new light to Northern California??? *bows head in disappointment*

  6. Say what you want, if you haven’t seen him live then you really haven’t seen anything at all. That boy got bars!

  7. @D. Science (and everyone else) – http://www.mediafire.com/?2qzjmocynjz check me out. (pause) i’m a new artist coming out of Sacramento at 17 y/o. this is my debut EP “Heroes Never Die”

  8. This kid got passion for his craft which shows in his music. Definitely got watch out for this dude. Doin it ForTheCity tuff!

  9. @ jDub:

LOL!!! You stay out in Sac? I live in Natomas. What part are you from?

  10. This album replaced Drake in the main cd player in the car. It’s great for the summerless times in SF.

  11. shout out KNOWXONE and the whole 2DOPEBOYZ staff. Thanks for the opportunity. Shout out everyone with an opinion and thanks to those who dig it.

  12. D. Science. should visit SF and watch PFUNK perform sometime when he gets his drivers permit. bwahaha. jk homie. spread love, don’t hate, congratulate! and 3 words for walter. “IT DOESNT MATTER!!” *rock voice* peace.

  13. definitely a feel good track… the kind of song you’d want to listen to when you’re driving down the freeway with your windows down, haha. i think the verses could have been better, but this song has potential written all over it. overall, still a good track. it’s different than what i’m used to hearing come out of the bay… as opposed to the heavy bass, street feel, club bangin’ tracks… good to hear something out of the ordinary. i think you’re really good, and if you keep at this, you will only get better.

for some reason, the first track that i thought of after hearing your track was curren$y- breakfast. i think bc it almost has the some tone and bpm’s.

  14. Not bad.

http://www.relevantmindset.net where music meets the mind. FInally, hip hop without the bullshit

  15. @ Enoch:

I was going to Ether you until you said “jk homie”…then I thought, okay that’s cool. Anyways, I’m not going to count dude out. He have some potential based on the repetitive sh** I hear from the Bay. Maybe I will check out his shows one day.

  16. This shit does not represent the Bay. It’s so mediocre it makes appreciate the dope stuff coming out of here even more. No bars, no delivery, no originality. Go post more Roach Gigz, Los Rakas, Erk The Jerk, Nio Tha Gift, J. Davinci, Jacka, Moe Green.

  17. ^^^^^^^^^^THANK YOU BAY AREA NATIVE!!!! This shit is wack and makes me think if these people are even from my hometown of 27 years!!! This music does not represent FRISCO whatsoever.I come from the era when RBL was holdin down frisco to the fullest!! and ever since that fell apart it hasnt been the same. Now u got cats like this who want to be down with the hipster movement that will eventually fade out one day.Wack rhymes,WACK ELECTRO BEATS and no originallity whatsoever.People are scared to be original and wanna hop on the dick of whats hot. This type of shit right here really makes our city look suspect as far as the music scene goes.MAYBE THATS WHY OUR CITY NEVER BLEW UP! Until then imma bump the Bored Stiffs,Spank Pops,Conceits,Boac’s,Top-R’s,Optik’s,Z-man’s,Gmc’s,Merk’s and thats pretty much it.Imma producer myself and i know what sounds good! THIS DOESNT,QUIT NOW PLEASE.Just speakin my mind and tellin the truth and if u have a problem with me then come holla PEACE.

  18. @D. Science I agree bro, I’m from the bay as well and just hope that I’ll hear a MC of Blu’s nature one of these days. Shit, even a Dom Kennedy or Shawn Chrys.

  19. yo..whether or not you like the track..you gotta respect the hustle and grind of pfunk and just because its not “frisco” enough for you doesn’t mean he aint holding it down for the bay. He’s doing him and thats all you can ask for in artists now and days. but much respect to everyone who left comments! shout out to SF!

  20. Yea I’m from the Bay Area, The City to be exact and we not fucking with this out here man…the problem with rappers coming from the City (San Francisco) and other parts of the Bay is that they try to carry themselves like rappers that already made it and have that “rapper swag” (my bad for the lame ass term), but don’t have the bars to back it up…I seen this P-Funk cat shoutin out that goonie shit, throwin up the one eyed goonie shit Jim Jones be doing or used to do, like man what the fuck is that?…idk man cats be funny out here sometimes, but do ya thang man

  21. Y u gonna respect a nigga hustle when he weak as fuck? Look funny when all his peoples gotta come on here defending him.

  22. I’m in the Goonies with P-Funk, it’s just our childhood crew since first grade based off the cult classic, The Goonies. He throws up the 3 finger circle sign, ’cause that’s his other crew 10% which means enlightened yet wicked, based off the wu-tang manuel.

  23. @ bobby filipino:

Are you THE Bobby Filipino from Fitted?

  24. Hate it or love it, thanks for listening. There is more to come. R$KBZ.

  25. thank you for settling that @ J_ODIS. blog comments should be the new arena for twitter….

  26. this guy, and like every other aspiring artist out there, worked hard to get where he’s at. it’s not like he woke up one day and decided to rap. from what i heard, he’s been doing this for a while. i just don’t understand why people can’t appreciate that. music is an art, yea some people may not like the finished piece, but that work embodies the person who makes it. and from what i see, he’s been featured twice on here because of what he does… and i don’t see any of you negative opinionated people who think they got some value in their comments on here at all…. jus sayin’. just appreciate the dude for what he does.. if you don’t like.. then move on!

i appreciate you p-funk for doing what you do! if anything, use all these comments to make you stronger! and just remember that you got fans out here who are proud to have you as a representation of the sco! keep it up kid!

  27. No matter where the fuck you from, good music is good music. And to keep it one-hunit, this track is garbage. I haven’t heard sons entire collective but the tracks I’ve heard are mediocre at best. I hate to be that dude to “hate” but come on now. Let’s all be real. This doesn’t sound like it has any passion in it whatsoever. I could say more but I feel like I’m wasting my time. Real recognize real. And it’s obvious the cats on here defending son are family and friends. Stop dick riding, pumping yo boys head up and tell your homie to get his bars up.

Or here’s a suggestion…go take an English or Creative Writing class at CCSF and learn how to write something creatively innovative. Instead of regurgitating the same ole shit everybody else is saying.

  28. soulja boy and lil b are garbage rappers. p-funk definitely isnt “garbage” sons nice, he can only get better.

  29. this shit cool when you mobbin’on a nice day/night. i wouldn’t bump this in da club doe!
