The ILLZ – M.P.A. (My Public Apology) (Video)

Synopsis by Filmmaker, Kristopher Rey-Talley: Round 3: don’t have a ton to say this time. Beauty of this video is what it become in contrast to what we set out to do. What was supposed to be a simple picnic vid became a sensual and romantic ode to French New Wave Films. I wanted it pretty, so I shot long lensed, and to give it that easy, nice flow, would give them topics to talk about and just let them interact as I shot. It was almost like I was staging a documentary and then capturing it. Of all our collabs, this may be the one I’m most proud of. I figured out how to rig a new lens system (my own secret) to give it a very cinematic feel. There’s something effortless and earnest about the video and that’s what I love. Even the performance shot was nailed in one take and I have no qualms about it, as it looks damn great.

  7. LOL Crooks n Banks hit it, he trying to win you niggaz over crying and over-dramatic sympathy, just cause he aint talkin about the typical shit, ya faint on some gullible shit.

  8. kristopher – do you know your film history? this is NOTHING like the French New Wave. The French New Wave was in a spirit of fun, play, and experiment…this has none of these. don’t go using fancy film terms to try and sound like an artist!

  9. Haha niggaz is hating on The Illz just cause he keeps it real on the mic. Hip hop is universal homie, fuck outta here with your bitchin’ & complaining.

  10. dope vid…made me want to see more and hear more

  11. Ha…This Is Some Honest Shit Tho, Dope.

  12. who else uses this beat? Pretty sure its a charles hamilton track but cant remember which one.

  13. ive been following up on he the ILLZ for a while now. i think he can step it up a notch. i was expecting him to be positive on this track, but his motive was about music luring him away from his love, since his desire is music itself. i think he should talk about how in love he is about music. i think that would be a ‘dope’ outlook.

  14. how can you really hate on this? most of yall niggas are simple as a mothafucka. BTW…THAT GIRL IS FUCKING BEAUTIFUL. ill impregnate her in a heartbeat.

  15. You gotta focus on one or the other man…If your gonna do both then your lyrics have to be up there with the film. That weird thing you do with your voice here messes it up even more. The instrumental and video is nice but it would’ve been better if your lyrics and intensity had been better. I was expectin more out of this film/music project. Step it up.

  16. damn where can i get these songs

  17. @Brazzle Charles Hamilton’s “She’s So High” and Telepopmusik’s “Breathe”

  18. Mickey Factz used that beat also.
