Rick Ross x The Roots – B.M.F. Live (Video)

Backed by the legendary Roots crew, Ricky performs his Teflon Don street single live on Late Night w/ Jimmy Fallon. Does anyone else secretly wish Black Thought would add a verse to every guest’s song? Anyways, rehearsal footage can be seen after the jump.

  1. it sound sketchy….I think he shouldve performed “super high”,I think it wouldve been better but idk…

Aye Did anybody see Officer Ross when kid cudi got jumped on stage???

  2. Yeah, this song is too simple for a live band to perform and the best part of the song, the sub bass isn’t in the live song.

  3. It’s a pretty basic number for a band to play.
Kinda gets repetitive..bald dude behind Ross looks bored as hell on the keyboard for the entire set. LOL

  4. Aww shit.
Just realised that bald dude is James Poyser.
1 kick ass producer right there.

  5. HATERS MAD THAT IM ICEY

  6. wat does black thought even do for these performances …?

  7. Whatever happened to never do what they do, what they do?

  8. @ Djurikson – “Whatever happened to never do what they do, what they do?” – A nigga gotta eat…that’s what happened.

  9. ?uest looks ashamed at certain points to be performing with this clown.

    DAMN.

    Still love the roots tho.

  11. *the white ppl dancing in the background*
    lmfaohahahashajjjjajahahaj

n yea when the roots are working with officer winslow its times like that i feel sad and like hiphop has died..then i remember all the people still keeping it alive *wipes away tear, and smiles*

  12. Shucking and jiving at its finest

  13. It would have been better if they did the cooking soul remix, and if Black Thought had a verse

  14. cooking soul remix http://vimeo.com/13452754

  15. damn diddy going hard w/ this booking ish first chealsy lately and now jimmy fallon…. i say rozay fucked up for performing BMF at jimmy fallon it was a different type of crowd…. imo he should have performed All this money w/ a random singer to sing the chorus but year rozay is going places

  16. yall niggaz is dumb as fuck, ross is the leader of the game and its not even close, teflon don by far the best album this year

  17. Yo people please check this out, new video/single from the brother Omar Offendum.

  18. I Think im robin leech, freddy crueger, captain kirk, ferris buelah

  19. i wonder if the roots are bitter they have to support “ignorant” rap

  20. i agree with william ferris.
    this is lame.
    rick ross is lame.

  21. a big fat L for the entire Hip-Hop culture

Its jus plain shameful to see how they all (The Roots/anchor of the show/audience) pretend to be enjoying the noise/music…

  22. He should’ve performed a better song from his own catalog…

  23. I’m with you on that shake. That would be cool

  24. The white crowd lmfao……

  25. This is better than last time Ross was on the show. Black Thought was actually on stage playing hype man, it was pathetic

  26. Not even the roots could save this bullshit verse/song/sloppy performance.

  27. i think im big meech. larry hoover. rick ross? nah, hes a loser.

  28. ?uest – ” Nigga you brought me here for this shit?”

  29. Ross definitely shouldn’t have performed this w/ the roots. Maybe super high or tears of joy.

  30. I pretty much only listen to this song for David Styles’ verse. [shrug]

The stifled smirk on the woman’s face to Jimmy’s left when he announced the album title is priceless.

  31. Man, I’ve actually liked some of Ross’ past performances…but I feel like the choice of songs to perform should always be considered based on setting, audience, etc.

You are performing with “The Roots” as your backing band…and you decide to do this “trill” song?

Not to mention, this is on National TV and you should try and stray from perpetuating the rap cliche at least sometimes in certain settings.

This “BMF” joint and the other “trill” (For lack of a better word I guess) joints on “Teflon Don’ were all wack to me. The main songs I was semi-feeling were the ones with soulful, cinematic production, like “Aston Martin Music” or “Free Mason”. He should have did one of those. It would have been smooth, more universally accepted and just not look corny. I’m not hating, but dude had like the whole band back there and a predominantly white crowd (which doesn’t mean anything I guess, but I’m just saying; it was a different crowd than say you’re average “106 and Park” crowd), and he’s on some amped up, hood type rapping. It just was laugh-worthy…

  32. Look at them awkward looking white folks dancing in the background.

  33. Trill music is the worst. It all sounds the same. There are no subjects on the Teflon Don CD. Rick Ross miserably failed on Teflon Don. I was someone supporting Rick Ross (I got to admit Deeper Than Rap was always in my CD player) but to follow up with a CD like this bullshit is embarrassing.

Trill hip hop isn’t party music and it isn’t club music. It’s not music at all.
Rick Ross is such a fucking moron for playing this song on a night show with a primarily white crowd. Just goes to show how little brain activity there is.

  34. The white people in the background remind of the sketch on Chappelle’s Show titled “White People Dancing”

  35. yh ^^^^^^ i feel u man he should have done tears of joy or maybach music because they got that roots – ish feel

  36. wow some of you guys are amazingly… hateful.
    good song, pretty good performance

  37. lmao ?eusto on the drums lookin bored as hell….actually, the whole (actual band) looks like they hated being there.

  38. oh and @ OGEaszy, he knew EXACTLY what he was doing picking this song, White people LOVE that kinda shit (the mainstream majority at least), they wouldnt want to hear Tears of Joy or Free Mason, just like when Pac was big they wouldnt want to hear unconditional love over Hail Mary. Those are the same people that buy into a song, just because it has a heavy bassline.

  39. ^^^
    true…true.

  40. ?uest explained that The Roots toured so hard for so long and that since the other guys have families it was getting to be a strain on everybody to the point of if they were even going to continue. So this gives them a place to actually play and make money on a regular basis and be home with their families. Biggest get of any Late Night show ever.

  41. people who say “trill” are white

  42. ^ the clipse are white??

  43. Yeah, bad song choice. Still love these Roots live collabos.

  44. I always wanted Black Thought to come in for every artist and do a verse, it could really use it now! shit would be dope!

  45. shit was a mob performance

  46. Damn. Excellent stuff from the Roots and the Bawse. I was clapping at the end of that performance. Props to him for doing a real banger track. Didn’t think they could pull it off. And how about Rawse. Thought he would suck live. That was dope

  47. @damier
so bun b and pimp c are white?

  48. watched this video in sync with the LUPE (BuildingMindsForever) freestyle >>>>>>
    a kid can dream correct?

  49. lupe killed this shit…

    sign the petition!!!!!

    #wewantlasers

  50. As much as I love hearing Black Thought verses (Top 5, no question), I don’t think “Blowin’ Money Fast” really suits his style in any way!

  51. haha c’mon guys, is there any way to post less Ross? It feels like it’s every other post these days, if I wanted to read Ross’s blog I would

  52. CMON POST THAT NEW LUPE!!!!!!!!!!

  53. lets go to sleep in paris

  54. I’m glad to see Rozay performing with “The Roots”. I wish they would’ve performed “Super high”, but I guess they needed Ne-Yo’s assistance for that one. The performance was still dope tho

  55. Watching ross start off the track with his little fat man dance is hilarious.

  56. Fail of epic proportions.

  57. Ricky Rozay killed it

  58. I need to say, many of these comments strike a real chord with me but many peoples comments seem to get a bit too angry if you don’t correspond with their feelings.
