Bambu – Before The Verdict (Video)

On January 1, 2009, local Oakland transit police murdered Oscar Grant in cold blood. His murderer is currently on trial in Los Angeles, and the jury is currently in deliberation. We are days away from a verdict and Bambu decided to take to the intersection of Florence and Normandie in his hometown of LA to send a message of solidarity to the people of Oakland. Bambu pushes for safe and calculated mobilizing, but makes it a point to encourage the natural emotion that people may be overwhelmed with if the verdict is not a just one.

Organize. Strategize. Project.

Research and find out where you can mobilize with others in your city.

***Bambu is not encouraging or supporting any unlawful action***

  5. Much respect to Bambu. Definitely one of the good guys.

  6. This is a great video, brother. I’ll pass it along for others to see as well.

  7. I didnt know about this either.

But hey does anybody know if any police officer has ever went to jail for killing anybody? I know the police back each other up and do everything possible to save face.

I want to know to see if the situation as tragic as it is, is more significant that meets the eye. Every time this happens there is a chance for change.

  8. Hold on I remember now. Its been so long. Scratch what I said before.

I dont think people didnt know, I think most people just dont remember cause that shit was all over the news.

I still want to know if any police officers have ever been arrested for police brutality.

  9. Thank you for posting this Bam, we all need to be educated on relevant ish that effects each and every one of us. Good that you use your social networking/media rapper status to advocate for positive change and make a call to action! Rise up gente!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  10. heating this from a man from the streets, we have the right to be angry. At the same be disciplined and do not let be provoked by the system in doing the unnecessary. We must build a movement to stop the systemic abuse of authority. We must police the police and don’t leave it to the courts who are part of the system and just give them a slap in the wrist. As they say, eternal vigilance is the price of liberty. Be on the safe side, be alert and mobilize— be out on the streets, protests but don’t be provoked, be militant but safe!
