Damn, looks to be an end of an era. Hex Murda, eLZhi’s manager, has apparently confirmed to XXL that he is no longer a part of Slum Village…
In his first tweet since March 8, eLZhi wrote, “Not sure what’s going on….I hope Slum Village’s label and T3’s manager respect what I do for SV. Either way I appreciate yall support.”
Later in the night, T3 wrote, “1 of all I never kick anyone out the group…” followed by, “2nd there is no new members in slum village! !!!!!” and, “3rd don’t chime in if you don’t know both sides. …..” He then followed up by claiming, “oh yeah one more thing. ..This is the last Slum Village Album…..”
Hex Murda, eLZhi’s manager, issued the following statement on the situation to XXLMag.com: “For all intents and purposes concerning eLZhi, Slum Village is defunct. This is the last SV LP. We look forward to bringing you eLZhi’s solo project, The Feed. Until then, check him out on Black Milk’s new opus, Album Of The Year, [in stores] 9/14.”
Goof grief. If this is true than it just proves that J Dilla was the glue that held the D together. But then again it’s Twitter, so I’m not taking this “revalation” too seriously.

This is actually good news. Elzhi is a waaay better solo artist. Slum Village’s last couple albums havent been that great. The Preface was amazing. As long as theres no beef this is the right decision

I love Slum but this is for the best the group cant grow anymore so its best for everyone to just part ways. Jay Dee left the group and became bigger and better and the same will happen with Elzhi. Plus i feel that S Villa kinda held elzhi back a little bit when it came to his solo career. And know elzhi will be able to make more solo shit. Elzhi > then any rapper whose come out in the last 10 years PEACE!!

Really sad news, SV is my favorite group. Like most of yall I hope Elzhi is able to get even more music out there now. Obviously SV had management issues the way they could never get an album distributed on a date they say. Unfortunately I also agree this could spell the end for T3.

People who dismiss this by saying that LZ is so much better than T3 must look at music differently than me. Of course, everybody knows that eL is pretty much one of the most technically capable mcs around, BUT:
T3 brings a ridiculous amount of melody to the tracks. He was able to craft songs, legitimate ones, whether he was snapping in the raps or not. El has a lot of ground to make up in that category. I was the biggest fan around, but I was pretty let down by The Preface for that very reason. The best hooks are The Transitional Joint and Save Ya (which is likely T3 influenced). El needed 3 to add that song element to his incredible verses, 3 needed el to add the great raps to his great melodies. They are both worse off as solo artists due to these limitations.

Elzhi’s larger than slum village now. It only made sense. Fuck melodies, Elzhi is one the best lyricist at the moment dont be a fucking fool an try and discredit him.

Elzhi is nice lyrically….i would love to see a song , cypher…or both with he, ..Eminem, Royce, and Obie Trice. That would be dope for the city (you can throw in Black Milk as well)
