Eminem Presents Dr. Dre w/ ASCAP Award (Video)

After a musical tribute by Kid Capri, Eminem came out to present Dr. Dre with his ASCAP Founders Award at the 23rd Annual Rhythm & Soul Music Awards.

He believed in me when not many others did,” Em told the industry crowd. “It would’ve been a lot easier for Dre to dismiss me like most people did. ‘What’s with the white guy from Detroit that raps with the funny voice?’ But he didn’t. He stepped up to the challenge because he saw something in me, and for that, Dre, I’m forever grateful, man. So I’m honored and proud to present this year’s ASCAP Founders Award to a guy who’s not only changed the face of music, but has also completely changed my life, Dr. Andre Young.”

Shouts to Rap-Up on the footage.

  3. what happened to the currency post?? someone call with a threat to take it down??

  4. that was koo

  5. curren$y requested for it to get taken down

  6. oh good damn Dre is so happy lol

  7. dude hasn’t made an album in 10+ years and yet is winning awards, unreal.

  8. em thanks for dressin up

  9. The award was for procrastinating, he’s earned it.

  10. Big fan of Dre but even I know he’s over-rated as fuck. His production is second to none but he wouldn’t be shit without the people supporting him like the engineers, beat makers, percussionists and all that. He’s the conductor but it’s the people he conducts that make him good.

Can you imagine the work they’ve had to go through in the last 8 years for this Detox album/myth. I mean over 500 records and soe of them probably hits but continuously shelved and delayed over and over again these people must be frustrated as fuck.

We will never get to hear the banging tracks he’s made all these years for Detox and all the shelved tracks for Bishop Lamont, Busta and evryone else.

Yes, he was behind the juggernaut that made NWA, Snoop, Eminem, 50 Cent, The Game but he was also behind the constant delays and push backs/shelvings of: Raekwon, Hittman, Joell Ortiz, Rakim, Busta Rhymes, Eve, Bishop, Stat Quo, RBX, Marsha Ambrosius etc etc.

  11. Dr. Dre’s record:

    Solo top 10 hits: USA = 3, UK = 4
    Featured top 10 hits: USA = 3, UK = 4
Solo Alum sales: 15 million +

Production top 10 hits: Crack a bottle, Outta Control remix, How We do, Rich Girl, Just Lose It, In Da Club, Family Affair, Let Me Blow Your Mind, The Real Slim Shady, Cali Luv, No Diggity, Gin N Juice, Who AM I, Dre Day, G Thang

He has only 15 Billboard top 10 records and tracks like Still DRE managed to reach only #93 on the hot 100. Alot of tracks like Guilty Conscience, My Name Is were top 10 in the UK though.

I think he’s good, his instrumentals sound amazing in cars and great sound systems but in terms of hit records, well aside from Crack A Bottle he hasn’t had one since Outta Control Remix in 2005. The relapse album production was very typical.

IMO he aint shit without guys like Focus, Mark Batson, Mike Elizondo, Scott Storch, Hi-tek, DJ Khalil, Daz, Mel-man and others who have helped him

  12. “Dr.” Andre Young. lol

  13. Nice to see Dre win yet another award for his work, he’s a great inspiration.

Dre’s done a good job in bringing in other production talent but I wouldn’t say “he ain’t shit” without those guys. Pre-Aftermath years showed some of his greatest work as a sole producer. In a way he’s actually had people helping him in the replaying of samples, but he deserves credit for the ideas and work in putting productions together.

  14. Dude it’s no mystry that most of the production for Death Row albums were done by other in house producers that just didn’t get the credit. Case in point Dogg Food Album which was mostly Daz. Pac’s album mixed mainly by Daz.

You remember 2pac’s album 7 Day Theory. The 2 main producers of that album were RnB guys who no one at Death Row were fuckin with and Pac pretty much gave them a chance and they made most of the tracks for that amazing album….in a week. The album has sold millions worldwide.
