Jay-Z & Eminem Live on Letterman (Video)

Shawn Carter and Marshall Mathers take to the rooftop of the Ed Sullivan Theatre for performances of their hit singles “On To The Next One” and “Not Afraid.” The two perform the classic cut “Renegade” from Jay-Z’s The Blueprint above.

More performances including Em’s Top Ten Pieces of Advice (for the kids) and Jay’s sit-down with Letterman after the jump…

  17. C’mon, the performance wasn’t all that, certainly not “incredible”.
I’m a fan of both but it was pretty tame if you ask me.

  18. Damn, i’d do anything to see these guys perform live together. Most of the crowd had no idea what they were witnessing.

  19. Eminem’s on his clowning tip again.

    Love it. He’s hilarious.

  20. renegade was dope

  21. yeah what the fuck did you guys watch? the performances were lacking energy… very subdued.

  22. the performance was lacking energy.. i was just enjoying it performed tho. that song is one of my all time favorites.

  23. jigga man forgot his lyrics to verse 2 at 2:40

    lyrics are:

i had to hustle, my back to the wall ashy knuckles
pockets filled with alotta lint, notta cent
gotta vent, lotta innocent lives lost on the project bench
whatchu hollerin? gotta pay rent, bring dollars in

he said “notta bent” instead of gotta vent.. smh

  24. (2)DOPE PERFORMANCE

  25. “…and Eminem killed you on your own song!”–NaSir of course

  26. Not Afraid with a live band is so much better

  27. Wow. What a fucking venue. It actually looks amazing with all the skyscrapers surrounding them.

  28. one of the better late night performances, sick rooftop venue

  29. em X the roots killed it on fallon.

  30. I thought these were epic performances, especially RENEGADE, just considering the circumstances, but for some reason, Em’s “Not Afraid” performance stuck out to me. It was the dopest I’ve seen the song be performed. Good stuff.

Jay is ill too, but he has this sort of lackadaisy delivery he kinda does…anyone else notice that?

  31. ?uestlove shouldve produced Not Afraid, it would make the beat tolerable…actually, itd make it good.
same with on to the next one
    the roots>
they could make william hung sound good
