John Legend & The Roots – Our Generation

John Legend and The Roots team up for the latest installment of Levi’s Pioneer Sessions series; in which pioneering artists recreate songs that have inspired them. And yes, this record will also be featured on their upcoming album, Wake Up.

Legend & The Roots re-craft a lost classic by the great, yet somehow underappreciated, soul singer Ernie Hines. Mississippi-born, Hines grew up in Baton Rouge, Louisiana where he got his start singing in the church.

  1. I love this collab. Roots + Legend = legendary.

Get Lifted is one of my favorite records. Lengend’s last 2 albums I didn’t like. This song sounds like it was one of the Get Lifted tracks, though I know it’s a cover.

Can’t wait for this wake up album.
