  1. always wanted to say this. FIRST lmaohahah

  2. It’s dope. Basically a Simba video with a higher budget.

  3. Great, great video. Similar to the Simba video but still creative.

  4. Did Michael Bay direct this?

  5. Are you all serious? This video is terrible for a major label video. This looks something that mixtape rapper would shoot in his own hood. I love the song but this video is very low budget for a major label artist. RocNation is already fucking this dude in the ass. (pause)

  6. The video is pretty bad and it’s poorly directed. All the extras look confused and out of place. It looks like he just got everybody in that area together and turned a camera on then just started walking around. It’s not only a poor video but it’s also very boring.

  7. HOTTEST VIDEO OF ALL TIME.

  8. @Camaro STFU. Wayne did the same bullshit for “A Milli” & nobody said shit. Cole is dope & I can’t wait for the album

  9. I thought it was alright. Is RocNAtion really a major label though? Nah…Anyway, looking forward to what he has planned for this album. Hope its nothing like the last song that leaked out. That was horrid.

  10. ^^ RocNation is very much a major label, what are you talking about? LOL

  11. no ideas original

    its pretty cool tho

  12. @Derek Jeter: LMFAO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  13. Cole World Mayne…
    Sick Vid!

  14. This video is sick! It’s badass that he’s walking through his hood. If this was Nas or Eminem walking through the place they grew up then you guys would be dickriding, but cause he’s new and it’s not perfect quality you’re hating? Weak sauce.

  15. I mess with this video. The concept is that he’s taking “a field trip to the hood”. Of course this video is not going to be fancy of him in the club with a lot of shit going on, ’cause the song ain’t about that. Making the video as simple and direct as this brings more attention to the LYRICS of the song. Thats why the explosions and effects going on are a reflection of the lines, like the television sequence, tipping his hat, the different voice overs in the hook, etc. This video is a good representation of what kind of an artist that J.Cole is.

  16. Can’t wait for the album.

  17. i dont know no j. cole to be bad…and this is definitely not bad….wish he woulda been a bit more ambitious but i get it….this is his intro video, hes leavin blazed trail starting in Fayetville….notice he was leaving fayetville at the end of the video..i love the song, i love the video, i love this dude.. (pause lmao)

  18. I prefer the version of the song in the music video with the additional vocals by the extras in the scenes than I do the original. A chorus of people asking “who dat?” amplifies the meaning and makes it sound even rawer.

The og track feels empty. This version feels more alive.

  19. this ish was dope

  20. you idiot, BBGun is the producer who got him started with Young Simba of course he was going to have him direct this one. This video is a really good video very simple but it’s a statement, a lot of directors nowadays don’t even put so much work into their video anymore, they just put the artist in front of a green screen and just make images and cars appear. J. Cole is a real artist who is better than most of the people out right now, Hov didn’t sign him for nothing smh.

  21. Why did Drake call himself “Hollywood Cole” in the Tim Westwood Freestyle?

…anyways, the video was dope. Save the excess hate for another day.

  22. diggin the video now bring on the album

  23. dope video. fuck all that talk about major labels and mainstream attention, ITS GOOD MUSIC!

  24. Simba…not Young Simba.
Dope video though. I don’t know if I can wait until August for the albumn. Damn.

  25. @InfamousP
ppl liked the a milli video?

also the televisions with the kid in front of it looks like a shout out to wale
    just sayin

  26. “Finger fuck whoever hated.” -J. Cole

  27. I like the video, simple but gets the point across, and hes reppin his hood. Its a genuine video. I guess its not enough video hoes, cars, or swimmin pools for yall to enjoy it lol.

  28. How many times was the word “Nigga” Bleeped out? J.cole a.k.a. the missing Hot Boy in this video.

  29. this was cool

  30. “also the televisions with the kid in front of it looks like a shout out to wale
    just sayin”

That’s what came to my mind when I saw that lol.

Pretty sure it is a shoutout since they close.

  31. the video FEELS alot better to watch in hd, its on Vimeo.

  32. Yeah Cole needs to relax with the “nigga” word.

  33. http://vimeo.com/12449882

  34. There is nothing hood about J.Cole. He’s graduated Magna Cum Laude from St. John’s with a Communications degree. I mean, congrats to him for excelling and graduating from college, but it’s hard to believe the fabricated tough talk, droppin the n-word all the time. Imagine Will Smith doing that shit. Uh…no. Besides that, the song is average at best. J.Cole is pretty corny overall. Let the the ‘hater’ count begin.

  35. @Winky

Granted, so then what is roc nation’s approach to j.coles image? I mean is he runing his own show? Because this is no run this town.

Pretty much the first thing that came to mind was that Xzibit video.

Wasn’t bad, though. Dudes are really nitpicking on here.

  37. I just wish he would stop saying the “n” word so much.

  38. “Now who else wanna fuck with Hollywood Court?http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZR3vvl2KJLw

  39. the video is wack and the song is even wacker. the video reminds me of a Burger King commercial.

  40. Does anyone wonder that Drake wants Andre 3000 on the album, but Cole got Andre to say that line in the song lol

  41. Cole world nigga. This is like the simba video on steroids.

  42. @ Lynx – I hope you’re joking

  43. @PowerFull he’s from Fayetteville those are high school friends and neighborhood folks. That is his “hood” if there was gun talk I’d understand but that IS where he’s from.

  44. This was dope. As is Cole. FInger fuck whoever hate it.

  45. It looked like the whole video was one shot. That was pretty amazing

  46. Good Thing J. Cole didnt have long hair or we would’ve had another Micheal Jackson accident… http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nfGsBzO-3B4

  47. @PowerFULL I hope you die for the dumb comment.

  48. Lol kinda over the top at the end but still a decent video. I was laughing my ass off at those kids walking with him in the beginning.

  49. Too nice.

BB Gun is the Guru of videos.

  50. J. Cole is my favorite newcomer in a long time, and no doubt I’m anticipating his album more than anything… but this video is cheap. And look at the part where he’s saying “anything you can do I can do better”… he messed up the lip-sync and says “anything I can do I can do better” and giggles a lil bit. I mean it’s not a major flaw, but it’s enough to make me think the video wasn’t taken too seriously.

  51. I’m def feeling the one shot thing. The Video is dope!!

  52. That was a dope vid…

And it wasn’t bitin’ the Xhibit video…

  53. Really loving this video. As somebody said above, it really accentuates the lyrics and makes you appreciate the content of the song. None of this in the club popping bottles ish.

    http://clintbeefman.wordpress.com

  54. look like what happened to lauren londons vagina when lil wayne got in it.

    dope video nun the less

  55. YEESSSS

  56. Dope. Ness.
But if drake did the SAME video for the SAME song, it’d be horrible. Just saying.

It was an ok video. Still love the song.

  57. cole world, nigga

  58. Noticed the Wale reference the second I saw this too.

  59. nice vid. WHO DAT!

  60. damn j cole bounce around alot.

  61. EVERYBODY scroll down and look for J. Cole’s name and VOTE for the Video as many times as you want to
    LINK: http://www.bet.com/OnTV/BETShows/106andpark/106_Vote_Poll.htm

  62. @Lynx

    That line’s from spottieottiedopaliscious

  63. I felt this was like the Simba video too. But “Who Dat”, “All I Want Is You”, and “Simba”, this nigga does not know what to do with his hands.

  64. @shipshop

yea i noticed the fuck up the first time thru, but didnt think anything of it til u said he kinda laughed at it. i must say that does sour it a lil bit 4 me cuz its like this is ur first major intro to the world as a solo artist and u let something that obvious slide? that said i like the video and the symbolism it has.

  65. One word. Dopeness

  66. idk bout yall
but after seein this, I’m officially a fan, dude got heart, he original, and he not dressin like a faggie or prancin around poppin bottles n slow motion..he real hip hop mang

keep up the good work J Cole.

  67. When has J. Cole denied or tried covering up that he went to college and graduated with a degree? When had Drake tried to lie about working on tv? When has Asher denied his father? When has Cudi denied he grew up in Cleveland Heights?

Y’all acting like these new school artists are liars and not telling their truths when they’re not. They do their things and get some shine on. I guess that’s the actual issue here.

  68. dead @ “this video reminds me of a Burger King commercial”.

Speaking of commercials did anyone else have a Nikon commercial pop up OVER the J Cole video, that was pretty terrible a far as ADS go…

  69. You know NYC/BROOKLYN secretly masturbate to Cole… This guy be on every post.

  70. video is hot as shit, just raw, nothing corny…..the actual hook should have the crowd in it, it sounds a lot better

  71. I was sleepin on dude. This shit is fiyah!

  72. dopeness

  73. i’m glad that i’m not the only person who asked them self did Michael Bay direct this, cool video tho

  74. the songs is fire.
    cole is fire.
    but this video is trash.

  75. I take back everything i originally said about the making of this video. It’s not tacky like i thought it would be. The video is actually hot and it gets the point across. This is a different kind of video for a hip hop artist. Not the same ol poppin bottles, naked whores, and club scene/pool routine. Time to think different. Carolina stand up!

  76. “the video is wack and the song is even wacker. the video reminds me of a Burger King commercial.”

    ^^^^^^

    LMAO!

Honestly this nigga is kinda losing though. He can’t capitalize on shit. If it wasn’t for the internet he’d be NO WHERE>

  77. DOPE

  78. Not the same ol poppin bottles, naked whores, and club scene/pool routine. Time to think different. Carolina stand up!
    ———
Yo i didn’t even think abt that at first but yeah, exactly!

  79. Im sorry..but am i the only one that sees the Wale’s Attention Deficit album cover at 0:40 secs

  80. this nigga is going no where like big sean nigga just dont got star power he is nice as fuckon the beats and rhymes but he missing that “it” factor

  81. WHO DAT WHO DAT!

  82. To the idiot who says this looks like a video a crappy mixtape rapper would make… what the hell kind of mixtape rapper makes an video with explosions and fire throughout? They dont do that. BTW looks much better on vimeo http://vimeo.com/12449882

  83. @ Sir Charles – I saw that too man I was like what the fuck

  84. video was pretty good. jcole one of the only few rappers i could tolerate nowadays out of these new age homos. wheres max b?

  85. J.Cole be stylin’ on niggas

  86. dopeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee

  87. Dopeness….
    Nc Stand Up!
    J.Cole Is The Future!
    -Paint The Sky,Blew!!!

  88. haha I deffly caught that slip up near the end there, its all good though nobody is perfect. and whoever thinks this is low budget.. they filmed in 35mm, only had one shot, and had to fly alllll this shit down to the fay. not 100 but I loved it, j cole got a mean o flow

  89. Finally i see a song that represents the south the real small town of the south and the struggle to come up and blaze a trail for your self to greatness. Notice like someone in the post said earlier cole is leaving fayetteville at the end. Weak video to me but not done as well as the Simba video. Dude from Cloutierville LA reppin cole since June 15, 2009. Heard tha warmup and was like damn this nigga is fire straight dope.

  90. the best part of this video that i didnt see anyone comment about was the production at the end of the video… when those cars explode cole aint standing there. He would get shrapnel so for safety he aint there.

you can also tell when he walks past the first car it slows up.

    COLE>>>>>

  91. Video is interesting.
Cole makes good music. I’m just a bit scared for him. He seems like such an average, common folk character. Nothing about him says star. At all. Still going to bump this song though.

  92. @ The Leo in the A “Honestly this nigga is kinda losing though. He can’t capitalize on shit. If it wasn’t for the internet he’d be NO WHERE>”

IF IT WASN’T FOR THE INTERNET ARTIST COULD STILL STELL RECORDS. It’s a whole different era we are living in, times change nigga. Gas ten years ago was on a $1.15 a gallon.

  93. Video was cool. Nothing epic, but still a good intro. Can’t wait for the album. I like how he’s repping his hood. Good ish

  94. Young Willow – We All Know Me
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0XVK_k4On-Q

  95. J. Cole’s image is that he isn’t some flashy ringtone rapper. Therefore, he isn’t going to have a video with a whole bunch of half naked hoes in a club. This was filmed in Fayetteville, and if you’re a J Cole fan you’ll know he puts on for this city like a motherfucker. This is his first real music video (besides “Simba”) that he’s released to the public and it was making a statement.

    The video was ill.

  96. Not a big jcole fan but the beat and the video is bangin thru ….

  97. Summary of jcole :

“. Nothing about him says star. At all. ”

“. If it wasn’t for the internet he’d be NO WHERE”

on main stream jcole pretty much doesnt exist doesnt be different then any other dude, and on the underground theres black milk and elzhi,
JCOLE BOB DRAKE = 1 yr stars — e.g. beenie baby status

  98. If he had made the video any different, people would still have complaints. @the guy who said the video was boring, would you rather he shot the video in a club with hoes all around and shit? @the guy who said this vid was too low budget, are you kidding me?

  99. no one can deny the beat is kickin

  101. COLE WORLD NIGGAS

  102. “LMAO!

Honestly this nigga is kinda losing though. He can’t capitalize on shit. If it wasn’t for the internet he’d be NO WHERE>
    -The Leo in the A”

^^^ IF IT WASNT FOR THE INTERNET, ALL THESE NIGGAS ON THE SITE (INCLUDING DRAKE AND COLE) WOULD BE NOWHERE. IDIOT.
    J.COLE>>>>>

  103. @PowerFULL just because the nigga smart and graduated from a good school makes him not hood? so all dumb ass niggas that dont amount to nothing are super hood right… gotcha.

  104. shut the fucc up ,this video is amazin

  105. “Cole world nigga. This is like the simba video on steroids.”

Lmao for real! Vid was definitely dope. Hats off to BBGun, they’re doing their thing.

  106. I think what J. Cole is trying to do in this video is to seperate himself from those wack over-produced videos Drake’s been doing recently and put something out that’s down to earth and relatable to his fans. Jay might seem more interested in Drake than J. Cole, but J. Cole is staying true to his fanbase and we’re definetly gonna see a dope album from him at the end of the year. Did nas have a huge budget video before illmatic dropped? Did Kanye? I think not!

  107. dream – love king (album) http://usershare.net/eoua7aq5z8uv

  108. great song and video. but jcole plz stop gesticulating so much. you’re gesticulating too much!

  109. ^LOL. This is true. He made the vid in his hometown. It’s not the best, but he went back to he roots and showed love.

  110. Vids Insane!

  111. that nigga is a rap messia. Yes i said it. finger fuck who ever hate it. FAYETNAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAM

  112. @ShipShop: good call! ;) He really does mess the lip-sync up, but I found it even more interesting that he giggles and goes on! What people don’t understand is that this was meant to be a one take video, and everything that would go “wrong”, would just make it more real, genuine, raw!

All the comments saying it’s “cheap” is because you’re misguided: it’s not the budget that makes a great video! It’s the idea! The concept! The execution.

This was better than all the videos that include video vixens, clubs, poppin bottles, cars, expensive clothes, and yet all these were more expensive!

I loved the band/cheerleader part, they come out of nowhere! :p Good job at keeping it surprising… the people screaming “who dat” too was great!
And another good call at the shout out to Wale! ;)
    Great video!

  113. Co-sign PowerFULL. Pretty much. Seems like a good dude but the tough talk is far fetched. And if J.Cole blows up then expect the videos with half dressed hoes in the club. Just no budget for that yet. Best believe.

  114. made the song come alive

  115. Fayetteville!!! B*tch!!! 910 stand up!!!

  116. “damn j cole bounce around alot.”

    haha, true.

  117. good song, but the shit looks like a damn commercial

  118. dope vid. looks like a continuation to “Simba”, which would make sense in the mind of the directors and J. Cole…lil shit for actual fans of him to notice. and yeah…he fucked up the lip sync on the 3rd verse, but it’s not like they could fix it…they shot the whole vid in one take, on film reel…not digitally. it raised the quality, but you pretty much HAD to get it perfect or close to on the first try…welp…he got “close to”. fuck it…long as it came out dope, that’s what matters.

  119. People riding on the video and slip up, clearly if you’re doing it in one shot, you’re gonna go with the best one. So yeah, maybe he slipped up on that line–but it is what it is. As far as some of the other comments, I agree, I wish he didn’t drop the n as much as he does, but that’s what it is, yes–it is possible to be articulate and come from the hood, why does it matter that he graduated at the top? There’s a way you act in class and way you act with your peers. Anyway, good song, def brought me back to “Simba” and I love him as an artist, soooo all you people hating can do the simple thing, turn it off…same thing I do for all the wack ass music you probably like. :)

  120. Video Is Dope ; If U Watch It With No Audio Then It Sucks .

I Like The Whole Theme Of His Elevation And Gettin To Higher Plains .

  121. Very very very hot video by J Cole it has the same idea that Xibit had with his “What U See Is What U Get” song on his “40 Dayz & 40 Nightz” album

Nevertheless this was real hot to me!

  122. Man i cannot get into dis nigga he juss sound like everyone else to me and wassup wit his hands keep them hoes still idk wat yall see in him

  123. He overdoes the rapper hand motions.

  124. This videos is very good. something different, would you rather it just be a video filmed in a club with hoe’s and champange and shit? no.

  125. yeah wale shoutout was ill lol, and yeah it was clearly one take, because he wouldn’t be able to replicate cars exploding and fires going ablaze… well he would, but i don’t think that was in the budget.

if you liked the video, then take about 30 more seconds to support the man and vote for his song on BET! we can all say he doesn’t get the shine he deserves… well help him!!!

    http://www.bet.com/OnTV/BETShows/106andpark/106_poll_confirmation

  126. Damn this video’s sick.

  127. (2)DOPE

  128. theres no words to exprees how hot this video is!!!!

  129. i think the end of the video is a ode to Fayetteville being called “Fayettenam” due to the fact it used to be so dangerous. That’s what happens when you mix Fort Bragg, home of Army Special Operations and a poor area. this shit is real.

  130. no cars,no bling,no poppin’ bottles, no half naked women or hanging in the club. just straight hip hop for your ass.

  131. ^^^^
“no cars,no bling,no poppin’ bottles, no half naked women or hanging in the club.” = gospel video

  135. Hate this damn keyboard.

  136. Impressive

  137. this was a nice video

  138. vid directed by micheal bay haha nah but foreal j. cole aint nothin to play with

    not funny.

    j.cole > drake.

check out wwww.facebook.com/novusclothing to check out a new dope clothing line

  140. considering that he shot this in one take this video is dope as hell.

j.cole def threw shots at drake in this. or maybe he didnt. but drake definitely felt like he was getting shots thrown at him, and responded on that tim westwood freestyle… “diss me and you never hear a reply for it” my ass. cole will murder drake

  141. cole isnt your old definition of an MC but this dude can fursure spit. idk fashawn didnt really do illmatic justice sooooo j cole is the best of teh freshman
