I’m a NY person and hate Boston sports, but man that game was SO RIGGED! like I’ve never seen before. Something like 84% of the Lakers shooting in the 4th QTR was from fouls called against the Celtics!!! Half of the Celtics fouls for the entire game weRE called in the 4th QTR and it was the most fouls all SEASON long that the Celtics ever had called against them in 1 QTR by like 50%! 13 fouls called against the Celtics compared to 2 for the Lakers in the 4th is just outrageous! I’ve honestly never seen something soooo obviously rigged!
Gasol clear out on Rondo, giving the Lakers another possession, consequently leading to a Boston foul against and a trip to the line for Kobe was one of the biggest missed calls I’ve ever seen. The refs were letting them play through a lot of contact in loose ball scenarios, but at such a juncture of the game, the whistle needs to be blown there on such an obvious foul.
I’m a big believer in calls evening out at the end, but man, two absolutely huge missed calls by the refs in the last 2 minutes or so of the game. One was the Gasol up and down- I’ll give the refs a pass on this one, only cause it’s an impossible play to judge at real time, but man there were so many BAD calls against the Celtics and NONE calls against the Lakers.
I feel really bad for the Celtics and would be embarrassed as a Laker fan to hold the trophy!

Sorry but most of the offensive rebounds for the Lakers came before the 4th QTR, when the Celtics were still ahead in the game (it had no affect on the outcome of the game) and if look at the stats a bit more carefully (I know LA people) aren’t good at that – you’d see that Boston and LA #’s weren’t that far off for both OFF and DEF rebound totals.
The clear stat differential was the 4th QTR stats and the fouls called against the Celtics and NON fouls called against the Lakers. It was the highest percentage of free throws for one team in one QTR for any playoff game EVER – and against a team that all SEASON long gave up the fewest fouls…COME ON NOW. OBVIOUSLY RIGGED as any neutral fan can see!!!

As a fan all you can ask for is the game to be called consistently throughout. Doesn’t matter “how” they call it… just call it the same way all 4 quarters.
I didn’t see that consistency in the 4th quarter… and the numbers (posted in the OP) confirm that fact.
It’s a shame because you never want to blame the officials. But daaaamn, that Lakers 4th quarter FT disparity sure does raise some eyebrows.

Celtics rebounded and boxed out BETTER in the second half, and “limited” the Lakers to 9 OREB in the second half, as opposed to the 14 in the first but yet it’s the Lakers OREB that allowed them to win the game when most of their OREB were in the 1st half and the Celtics were still ahead by 6. That’s the mark of having a great supporting cast. Hittin shots against the Golden States and Sacramentos of the world is great, but doesn’t make GREAT players. Hobe Cryant is a good player, who plays on a very good team. We all saw what happened in his 20′s prime when he was playing with lesser talent around him. He doesn’t transcend the game, he’s merely a very good player.
