GZA sits down with BlackTree to talk about the Wu performing Enter the Wu-Tang: 36 Chambers in it’s entirety at this year’s Rock the Bells festival. He also speaks on his upcoming album, Liquid Swords II. What are y’all thoughts with all these sequels that these vets have been coming with?

Can’t wait to see Wu in Manchester baby!

Ever since Raekwon got all that love for OB4CL2, everyone is doing it.

I guess I don’t mind sequels as long as they meet or exceed the quality of the original

if its as good as OB4CL2 was, props, same with Doe or Die 2…

Cuban Linx and Liquid Swordz are definitely sequel-worthy.
Sadat X’x Wild Cowboys, AZ’s Doe Or Die, and CNN’s War Report (while no doubt all very solid albums), not quite.

DJ Muggs vs GZA was classic, you know Liquid Swords 2 will be… I love how dark the original was, it was the best of all the solo albums, you can listen to every track until the end and it’s pretty damn flawless… Can’t wait for the new one…

OB4CL2 was overrated to ME (this is an opinion) only because i heard almost all the beats before since alot of the dilla beats were recycled even the pete rock beat was. production wise it felt like a mixtape to me because of that. but it was a good sequel lyrically. im curious to see what liquid swords 2 will be like. on another note doe or die 2 isnt looking very promising.

Personally I think all the elderstatemens of the game on the east coast are hoping for a New York revival with all these sequels. I ain’t really feeling it, its like every New York rapper under the sun from the 90′s era thinks just because Rae did it that formula might work for them also…WRONG! Lightning never strikes twice in the same spot. Get back to your craft and be more innovative.

I really hope GZA takes his time with this “Pt. II” to make sure it is on the same level as its prequel which was definitely a classic. Raekwon had a lot of time to perfect his and that’s one of the reasons why it came out almost flawless just like its prequel too. The thing is, just because it worker for Rae it doesn’t mean it’s going to work for the rest. I really don’t want these sequels to come out badly and demerit the prequel just by the name.

lol@ people acting like raekwon was the first rapper to come up with a sequel album, that is just far from being the truth
