Phonte chops it up with Nodfactor about the “I’m the Quincy Jones producer of Little Brother” comment and what it’s like working with Nicolay as compared to 9th.

^that makes no sense at all.. you mean it matters what name Phonte and Pooh work under to determine which producer is better?

@pa pretty stupid comment really. You’re either the biggest 9th stan ever or haven’t listened to both Foreign Exchange albums. One of the two.

i agree with @iamcoxhead.. Nicolay is dope, and together with Phonte they have made great music. They are currently filling my “Dilla” void.

cool to hear the inter-workings. would like to hear more boom bap hip hop from Phonte. doesn’t really matter what producer… long as they supply him with heat.

It’s the other way around for me. Nicolay, Khrysis, & all the other producers that Phonte & Little Brother work with are as good or better than 9th, IMO. Oh, & Phonte one of THE best cats out now with the singin’ & the rhymin’. The stuff 9th doin’ with David Banner & Murs is incredible but all them other rappers he work with are disposable & none of ‘em come close to Tigallo.

I’m as big a Jay Dee head as there is & I’ve been “all Jay Dee every day” since before he even came out with the Pharcyde stuff & all his early shit (& I’m not even from Detroit) but there’s a million cats doin’ every variation of his different styles that it more than makes up for the loss. No disrespect. I think Dilla’s the greatest musician in the history of the planet so…

“or haven’t listened to both Foreign Exchange albums”
The first Foreign Exchange album was dope. The second one with all the singing was pretty weak. 1 dope album, 1 weak album is only a 50% ratio.
Meanwhile phonte and 9th wonder…The Listening..The Minstrel Show 2 for 2 classics and still the 2 best albums of phontes career.
Proof is in the pudding..The Facts dont lie…Phontes work with 9th produced the best work of his career by a 1000 football fields.
