Hov covers this month’s issue of Rolling Stone, which is on newsstands now. In the issue, Jay speaks on his infatuation with the indie rock scene right now and how Beyonce wears the pants in the relationship.
While Jay is notoriously private about his life with wife Beyoncé, Binelli gets the rapper to let down his guard, and Jay reveals his superstar better half vetoed a piece of artwork he’d bought for their 8,000-square-foot Tribeca penthouse. The black-and-white Laurie Simmons photograph in question depicted “a noirishly lit pistol with a pair of women’s legs emerging from the handle… Beyoncé sent it back and had it replaced with a similar Simmons piece, only depicting a perfume bottle instead of a gun.” Binelli also encourages Jay to open up about his biggest challenges as president of Def Jam (the most frustrating meeting? “Honestly? All of them”) and his one and only experience in therapy, when as Binelli writes, “The psychiatrist gave him tea that made him sleepy and asked him questions like, ‘Who are your best friends?’ “

GET ‘EM JAY.
Blueprint 3 was good, what you talking about?
His fuckin close up shots needs to be blurred out. That nigga lips is ugly looking just like fuckin Ross tits! Do use a favor please!
king of america? I stopped listening to his music since the black album (decent), the man never got up to the greatness of The Dynasty and The Blueprint albums. Shame. It’s hard to hear him nowadays, his rhymes dont sound creative, engaging or anything.
I hate to break it to you guys but The Blueprint was an album that was part of his “Dumb down for my audience” era. American Gangster and The Black Album were definitely his best after the millennium.
What’s with the comments on his looks? He’s a guy.
those some big fucking lips. wow. and whoever said jay hasn’t dropped anything hot for a while, did you even listen to american gangster?? that shit was incredible. its up there with any of his best albums. maybe is his best.
I imagine that its hard for him to find shit to rap about, like on Reasonable Doubt he wasnt really rich yet so he rapped about hood life and small wins that came from dope selling. Then Vol. 1-3 and Dynasty werent far from that but he was still on an incline and trying to bring his crew along with. Then at the Black Album he found a valid reason to retire but couldnt stick to it because he knows how great he is at what he does. American Gangster was a concept album that pretty much let him rechannel what he talked about on Reasonable Doubt which is why it was a great album, he was talking about what he’s always been passionate about. Now all he can do is rap about money because he’s pretty much covered everything else he’s done in life. That’s pretty much all BP3 was about. @ the time i just hated it, but now i understand. He cant really step outside of that because he runs the risk of losing which is sumthin he’s just cant deal with at this point in his career. In theory he could because he’s financially set, but at 10 #1 albums, he has his legacy to think about. if he came with some insightful type shit and it bombed he mite not know how to handle it. That might just be an insecurity of his. If he finally concedes to the calls for substance and fails, he cant take it back and it also makes it hard to go back to his comfort zone
RAoF. Retire (again).
hes not king of me.. all his song now consist of “that sucks” your not cool” “im cool”
man,if jay-z is the king of america.. . .. DMX is the king of universe (i’m serius ,dmx >>>> jay-z)
dmx>jay ??? since when ?
he murdered dmx on every track they collaborated
i remember he was on the cover of a recent issue of xxl and it said ‘Is Jay-Z bigger than hip-hop?’ I said Hell no but his fucking lips are!
bored at work – good fodder for more boredom
hip hop needs to rebuild
I used to love jay-z but does anyone remember dame dash?????? I DO thats jay-z’s old partner that doesn’t like HOV and keeps it extra real with the people. Dame DASH put togeather the BLAKROC project that is easy that best indie rock/rap cd of all time. It’s actually has substance, but it didn’t pop mainstream. Now jay-z has THIS infatuation with indie rock……..Jay-Z steals creativity from other people once again…….and he’ll be successful at doing it to because the burb’s love him becasue he’s from marcy projects, so how couldn’t you.
Yeah, you can talk about Dame Dash. But the reason why a lot of people don’t fuck with Dame is because he has a reputation of being one of the biggest dickheads in Hip-Hop. Not dumb, just, “Damn, that guy is a jerk.” But hey, good for Jay tho, he’s getting more internationally known now.
