I like to compare feature artists to auto-tune. They’re purpose is to fill in gaps or enhance the record but it’s over-use has robbed artists of their chemistry and creativity. Especially when the feature artists outshines the main artist. I’m not saying Trey did that here. My favorite Fat Joe record is Me, Myself, and I. He had 3 features for 12 tracks and doing this allowed the record to flow more naturally. I’m not a fan of this track and I hate albums bum-rushed with features. I say cut the features to a extreme minimum as well as contributing producers, and make an album that flows from start to finish. Niggas these days, with a few exceptions, are making compilations instead of albums.
Another banger for Joey, lan say what you want but Joe is a hustler he managed to stay in the game that long, even though he uses features for his hits, he still got a good ear for beats, some people got joints with Wezzy that didn’ t really go too far.As far as people saying he sounds like Drake it’s not that bad, talk about FABOLOUS on some joints from his last mixtape, you can see the Drake influence so don’t knock Joey,he one of the most consistent artists out there even though he not such a good lyricist.
