In the second teaser clip from The Next 48 Hours w/ Nas & Damian Marley; Nas details his thoughts on what is wrong with the music industry. Amen dude. Amen.
PUT OUT MUSIC *cough* Jay Electronica *cough*
“How do we get the #1 how can we sell a million in the 1st week” sounds like Birdshit and Young Money,,,care more bout sales and money than quality music with meaning
Too many pretentious MC’s in the game. BP3 defined pretentious. Gotta have big name producers and young up’n'comers to stay relevent. The result. A garbage album.
and Jonnie, Jay E holding on to his vault of music to keep fanboys like you talking about him all upset he doesn’t release an album. Then he will release a track when he feels like it and fanboys rejoice and sing his praises. So simple.
The problem with the game is every site’s C-Section that has people who chooses sides and talks shit about everyone… It doesn’t matter who i like more… but the game would be boring with just the Cudis and the Drakes snf Blus and Jay Elecs… who cares if you thought BP3, Man on the Moon, Distant Relatives is wack….. cause you know what? a lot of people like all of it
“How do we get the #1 how can we sell a million in the 1st week” sounds like Birdshit and Young Money,,,care more bout sales and money than quality music with meaning
sound like you hatin on ym cuz really they got a shit load of music out…wayne alone alot of shit drake alotta shit nicki alotta music…mack maine gudda and jae each got they own mixtape series plus so does tyga nd he just came out wit one wit chris brown….really they keep music out…when do we not hear them on the radio
That’s why Rappers more than any other Genres are scared to be themselves cause assholes like you shit on everything thats not your favorite rapper… it’s all about balance and everything is equal that way….maybe if you guys actually supported these artists
@darryle, I agree with the first thing u said, but the fact of the matter is rappers shouldn’t be afraid to be themselves REGARDLESS of whether people talk shit in C-sections. They gotta be men and stand up and do what they do. No?
JonnieHayward Music Blog thing is YM are PROOF that music sells like nas said not a problem to it.
but all in all its mixture of the internet d/l and low quality music from new artists and sumtimes a bunch of old artsits trying to stay in a game or put out an album cos their contract calls for it at the time not cos they were musically inspired to make a new album
Too many dudes hyping up their album, just release the music. If not, then shut the fuck up and hit the studio until u got something to present. Let the music speak for itself instead of creating a huge buzz to help sell it. YOU’RE ARTISTS. Just go out there and express yourselves. The game is full of fuckin telemarketing ass ni99as selling shitty products. Like Distant Relatives, drop a product that speaks for itself.
yeah he rite and we get to many interviews to many sneek peaks and trailers to much behind da scenes man with hip hop for me rite now its a love hate relation i mean i dnt get hyped for albums ne more for one there are to many mixtapes and to many leaks i mean this site alone dropped like half of the DR album lol not hating jus speaking tru Hip Hop facts is it me or is it to many artist flooding the game u cant pick who is real or not ne more its hard man to much bandwagon issh be poppin off, people wanna be different so bad they end up supporting str8 up bull
to me there are guys that seem to really try there best to create art and then there are the guys trying to make a platinum record, and i think it is pretty obvious which of these two rappers are going for by listening to the music.
c’mon shun, birdman and young money? really? in what time frame did you manage to take that observation from? nas dosen’t share mindspace with you, I highly doubt he was talking about them.
this fool said too many kid cudis. I only know of one kid cudi in the game dude and he is fucking dope. That is really the problem with the rap game, niggas don’t want to accept artists that are out of the box.
Nas is saying to put music out and not care about the numbers, if you put some heart, mind and soul into, people will feel it. And I’m pretty sure he’s not saying just put a lot of it out because the more you put out, the more your quality tends to suffer, that’s just a law of manufacturing. It’s about finding the right level a quality at a consistent pace to keep people happy. Music is simply suffering because everything is very one sided. There’s no variety like there was during the Golden Era of Hip Hop. It’s saturated with a bunch of artist that all sound the same.
whats wrong with the music game!!!???!!! fuck that all people ever talk about is whats wrong with the music game game! how about people do what em did last year a say whats right with the music game! i mean cmon look right now rap has such an excitin future, yea i see ppl gettin all shits up about ppl like cudi n drake sayin we need more blu’s etc but cmon guys what so rappers should all sound the same and jus be about lyrical content? nah fuck that we need variety! em saw that and co signed B.o.B and look what has happened to him hes got a number 1 single all over the world and a number 1 album! so what if he doesnt rap about deep meaningfull topics! he is fun!!! so is cudi!!! for every serious rapper you have to have some fun! each rapper has their place and its good that the all come with different sounds right now! just sit and think about how good some of these new guys actually are! then think about how good some of the ppl still to drop albums are, j. cole, big sean, drake etc. then think again about the tallent that still hasnt made it yet! big example of this is XV! now if you listen to him and think that thats a rapper that cant make the freshman 10 then! right now the game is in good hand with plenty of variety cause yea we have the cudi’s, the bobby rays, the drakes but we also have an equal amount of seriously good meaningful rappers blu,,j.cole, jay elcs, fashawn. cmon guys think about it, quit hatin and realise right now some of the best rappers in the game are only just 20! the rap game is in a good place! more people need to appreciate that!
I co-sign 99% homie… and that 1% is due to the fact that u said that B.O.B. is just fun with no meaningful topics. I understand that most of his music is what u would call “light hearted”, but there’s usually a message to accompany the light heartedness. Thats his niche, he can have a message and sincere feeling in his music without coming off as pessimistic about it. ex. “The Kids” feat. Janelle Monae
@ Nick D in case you havent noticed, B.O.B. has taken his time to put out quality music recently. Unlike when he first came out with that Haters Everywhere track. The topic of what’s wrong will stand as long as we have a majority of wack rappers who do it just for the big paychecks simply because there is no lyrical substance in their rhymes.
I agree, but sometimes it’s not the rappers it’s the record labels… but Wiz Khalifa’s “Kush & OJ” is a prime example of what Nas is talkin bout… building up all that buzz for a subpar mixtape… smdh just put the shit out Vizzy Zone too!
@Nick D i don’t know how u could say B.O.B. doesn’t make meaningful music… every song on his album, excluding Bet I Bust & maybe Nothin On You, has a meaning… #imjustsayin XV is rising, but constantly delaying new material isn’t helping him… put that shit out… I know he’s been on tour so I’ll give him a pass though
@ ALL THE PEOPLE RESPONDING TO MY COMMENT…Birdman said himself that the greatest rapper is the rapper that sells the most…everyone knows YM puts out a lot of music, but it don’t mean its quality shit…all of their content is dumbed down and highly doubt its from the heart..all because they wanna sell records, same goes for Drake switchin up his lyrical content and featuring big name artists on his album and even said on his Pass the Dutch verse “I told you catch up did u make a mill yet? I can’t predict how many of em I can still get” and talked shit on another track bout how much he’ll probably sell in his 1st week
Thats the best & realest statement that’s been made in a long time! This new generation has got reality twisted!!! You go on most websites, and just look at what these corny niggas is talking about…(He’s not relevant, He’s not selling, He move units) If that’s what your focus is all about than you’re a LAME!!! You ain’t Hip Hop, you don’t live this shit, you in it for a check, and thats it!! I’m tired of all these bitchmade niggas who quote on quote know so much about hip hop and don’t know shit in reality! Niggas is like the end of that Raekwon song Gihad, Sit down and bag that shit up nigga!
Jonnie – who pays attention to Young Money & Birdman, let alone the things they say beside kids? No one is taking them serioulsy.
The game is watered down and over saturated with wack MCs just trying to come up with the next gimmick that will catch on and get played in the club or the radio. It doesn’t even matter what the track says or what it’s about if the beat is catchy enough.
And when people talking about albums “selling” that just means alot of white kids are on to it – who do you think is buying when an album goes platinum?
Just want to re frase what I put about my man bobby ray! I wrote it wrong didn’t mean he has no meaning more that he isn’t the blu that ppl want every rapper to be he doesn’t put 100 percent effort into havin groundbreakin lyrics don’t read into it wrong! I reckon I’m B.o.Bs biggest fan in uk! I been followin him since tje begginin and am goin to his first gig in the uk next week! But was just he aint the lyricist that blu etc is but I actualy prefer BoB as he is a breath of fresh air! Sorry bobby if I put the wrong message across about you! Watch this space BoB biggest selling rapper of the next decade!
