He’s only compared to Nas because Drake think he’s gonna be like Jay-Z. Obviously, Drake is on his own d*** even comparing himself and J. Cole to guys who put out albums, f*** a mixtape.
Besides, if there’s any young and upcoming rapper that I see a little Nas in is Fashawn. Strong debut about growing up as an adolescence from a barely 21 year old rapper? Yeah, that sounds like Fashawn.
even if your an A. Hole SHEEP, you gotta admit, these A. Hole interviews are pointless and repetitive. and MF_Timmy are you smoking crack? A. Hole = Big Pun? Big Pun will always be beyond superior than A. Hole as a lyricist, emcee and artist. people also need to stop with the Nas comparisons, there’s nothing A. Hole has done that can place him on any level with the legends. drop your fuckin’ album A. Hole!
How the fuck is this nigga being compared to NaS…@ D. $cience is 110 percent rite!! Faswawn will eat this Cole nigga alive…When iLLMATIC came out, it was raw and agressive for the streets,,a little bit of the same with Fashawn, he raps about his envirnment, gettin into fights basically about his hard upbringing similiar to NaS..J.cole being compared to NaS, WHUTT THE FUCKK!!!
I see J.Cole being compared to a Common Sense or Talib or somebody like that..
@MF Timmy…what’s similarities do you see between Big Pun and J. Cole?..and u idiots act like people say Cole is on the level of Nas, all they’re sayin is they see similarities in the style that he raps
LMAO @ Jonnie sticking up for J.Cole like he’s his girlfriend. What similariteis does J.Cole have to Nas? And who said it – Drake? Consider the source. J.Coles voice alone is a drawback. Just because J.Cole is one the less shitty newcomers doesn’t mean a thing. Shit, J.Cole isn’t even the best in NC. Yonas >
@Chunk Rock…Yonas SUCKS..now stick up for him (Yonas) like your his “girlfriend”, not a fan…Drake got the comparing Cole to Nas, and him to Jay from fans already saying it, Cole gets compared to Nas only cause he’s more conscious but I agree with Riko he’s more similar to Common..Nas never mentioned females as much as Cole does..I don’t think there’s much comparison at all but I see where ppl come from when they do compare the 2..have no idea how da homie can compare Cole to Pun tho..step back off ur personal tastes and biases and try to see y ppl compare in the 1st place
Big Pun? really? maybe Ortiz but J.Cole is a dumbass comparison.. Ja and Mase for Drake as well is pretty shitty too, you must be on some shit or know nothing about rap
But it’s more like this
J. Cole=J. Cole
Drake=Kanye West
I like Drake but a little mini version of Kanye as well as Wale, Kid Cudi, and Kidz in the Hall(Well these two not so much). Not all these dudes are not swagger jackers they just took what Kanye did and made it their own.
@Jonnie – uh, ok. yeah, Yonas sucks. I’m taking that as ‘I know you are but what am I’ type comeback. If not then elaborate. So tell me, what sucks about him? His style? His lyrical content? The beats he rhymes over? Be honest, you never heard him. Or he doesn’t have famous co-signs or industry push so he ain’t shit right?
No one compares J.Cole to Nas besides Drake and bitches who read magazines and watch MTV. There is no comparison. Figaroyo nailed it. The only thing J.Cole has in common with Nas is he’s a rapper. J.Cole doesn’t even have an album out.
You cant really blame anyone for comparing new artists of today to artists of the past. I mean we all know shit has been so Wack and just Bad and God Awful for so long that anybody with a lyrical vocabulary above Elementary school is almost automatically considered a legend because we have had such a drought of dope artists. To find someone even remotely dope you would have to dig underground and that was where all the gold was. Underground. And thats the way it has always been, but you always had atleast enough mainstream dudes that were dope enough to keep your attention.
But right now we are in a Recoverey phase of hip-hop so Im just supporting who ever is at least decent. Which is why support Donnis. The way I see it people have been so used to dumb shit that we have to slowly inject dope shit. I mean if you just throw some Jay Electronica on them they will overdose and be totally turned off. But if you start with some Drake, throw in some Donnis, then lead up to some J. Cole, then even that out with some Big Sean, and then let them try some Pac Div. And if possible slip in Jay Electronica. The way I see it if your going to try and put somebody up on Jay Electronica, its best to let them watch that Boondocks trailer with Exibit C in it. This way they are familiar with the imagery, while something dope is busting a huge loogie nut in their ear.
This is a very delicate procedure so take your time and dont rush it. Crack addicts dont just quit crack.
Actually the Drake/Ja Rule comparison is pretty much on point compared to anyone else. How many rappers also sing….and will have both on their album. His hustle’s the same as Ja’s
Drake wasn’t comparing J.Cole to Nas and himself to Jay-Z saying we’re as good as these guys, he was saying that where they stand, they’re like the new Jay and Nas. Y’all dudes are simple anyway, you won’t get it.
^Oh and the comparison was also based on how they made their moves and how Drake sees them in the future. Jay decided that he wanted to make it commercially so he went in that direction, similar to what Drake is doing now. He probably saw J.Cole as more of the Nas type, doing it the way he always did and not really going too commercial with his.
well wit j.cole bein one of ma favorite up and comin artist and nas bein ma favorite rapper of all time i would say its actually not a bad comparison.this doesnt mean hes a legend like nas or talks about the exact same shit but hes got the intelligence the smarts the wit and is the closest rapper lyrically

Comparing him to Nas? FOH!!!!!
Comparing J.Cole to Nas is like comparing Kwame Brown to Michael Jordan.
@NYC I think it’s less of a reach than J. Cole/Nas. And of course he’s not on the same level of Pun yet, but I think he could get there.
