Anybody who says they don’t like this album needs to stop listening to hip-hop cause this is just good uplifting deep music

I love the lyrics but hate the beats. The beats are just not my thing. I really want to buy it but I will be downloading it for free because of the beats.
Rezo said this on May 18th, 2010 at 4:32 am
No matter how uch I love his rhymes since stillmatic I can’t listen to nas anymore…..
Trick said this on May 18th, 2010 at 4:47 am
there’s nothing wrong with the beats

Great album but Damian really steals the show. Damian did most of the production and is more prominent on most of the songs, it feels like Nas jus came in to spit his verse or 2 and then he was out.
The album has more of a reggae feel then hip-hop so I can see why people dont like the beats

Would’ve been the worst track in the album if it weren’t a “bonus”.

If you don’t like this album, then fuck your opinion. And if you got a problem with these beats, then you need to expand your definition of music beyond rap. This is real music, go support it.
NYCityREP said this on May 18th, 2010 at 9:25 am

What happened with the track with Nneka was that not suppose to be on this album or was it just a collab for the tour?
DK said this on May 18th, 2010 at 10:06 am
@ dashboard no duh everyone sounded different back then
why does everyone gotta bring up Jay-Z when they hate on Nas, that beef is sooooooo old. I like Jay but Bp3 was kinda wack, he was makin songs wit Drake and Rihanna tryin to be “Forever Young.” Nas is actin his age and making more conceptual albums like “Hip Hop is Dead” and “Nigger” and this one, all of which my not be his best work but they are all good

^^lol @ dashboard actin like his opinion is a fact…not every1 feels the same way as u buddy,,Nas never fell off, always been a top lyricist, his only weakness is his beat selection…true Nas fans are most likely the ones that focus more on lyrics than beats…without the lyrics, there is no song
JonnieHayward said this on May 18th, 2010 at 10:55 am
btw cant believe Nas said “FREE WAYNE”
JonnieHayward said this on May 18th, 2010 at 11:05 am
NAS WAS HIGH AS FUCCKKKK during that whole segment! haha
Ekser said this on May 18th, 2010 at 11:48 am
Its obvious from 2 interviews now when they’re asking about wayne on the album, they really didn’t want him on there, especially Damian. Label pressure, and they’re in the BET house so of course they gonna say FREE WAYNE etc. They do want to sell a few records, but at least they gave us a Classic for my ipod. That’s what matters. peace

I wish some of ya’ll would quit saying your opinion’s fact & everyone who doesn’t like this is wrong. I keep going back to this album trying to like it & I just don’t, sue me! The lyrics & messages & all that are great but the music’s generic to me. Again, IMO, if you’re calling Damian Marley some kinda musical genius then you probably don’t have a very broad musical palette. He plays a bunch of instruments (lots of people do), none expertly, & fuses reggae with “pseudo” hip-hop beats. It’s been done a million times, maybe just not on a huge industry release. Oh, & I don’t care who he or ANYONE is related to. Nepotism in the industry doesn’t equal greatness. That being said, I don’t think Damian Marley’s music & this album are good & he’s very talented, just not great or classic.

I’ve remember seeing in the original track listing a UK version of the album was supposed to have a bonus track featuring Snoop? It was called “Weed On” or something like that. Anybody got that track?

I have never understood bonus tracks…why not just throw it on the album? Is one track really giving people that much incentive to buy the album?
BSnyd3 said this on May 18th, 2010 at 9:46 pm
I got this today at best buy along with the black keys’ brothers album & reflection eternal’s revolutions per minute…. I can honestly say this has been the best day of music for me in a long time & all three were money well spent… All three were the first albums i’ve bought since meth & red’s failure follow up to blackout! By the way, the packaging for distant relatives is (2)Dope

i think this is 1 of the BEST albums i’ve ever heard. even the songs that are not as “catchy” are great…i felt like a spirit took over me especially on Tribal War & Patience. Everything about this album is FIYAH!!! I’m a roots kind of gal so the more reggae influence is fine with me. I think i’m going to buy a few albums to support them and pass them out as gifts to my friends who enjoy wisdom & knowledge and can REALLY appreciate some good righteous music. One Love!!!
