Wow, they’re really milking this DVD for all it’s worth.

Schoolly D explains how Hip-Hop’s pioneers had a harder time due to fewer avenues and more opposition. Taken from the interviews for the book How to Rap: The Art & Science of the Hip-Hop MC.

  6. This dude used to actually bang on the drum machine pads while he rapped. And he had Code Money cuttin live in the home studio with him, no multi tracking whatsoever. PSK and Gucci Time were two of the songs he recorded this way. AND he put that shit out on his own label. AND he was the first one talkin ill shit about smokin “cheeba”, disrespectin hoes, and reppin Parkside Killers. The dude had Philly on his back in ’86-’87.
