I agree with chipz. Cory definitely didn’t grow up with “water in his cheerios” as he stated in this track. And if he did then goddam nigga…thats a shame on Peter Gunz, you’re a famous rapper where you live and you can’t get your kid any milk??? I also agree that Cory just rhymes for the sake of rhyming and his shit usually doesn’t make sense when analyzed. That being said this track is DOPE, he pulled it together on this one. I definitely fucks with this.

First off – Cory Gunz didnt grow up broke. His Dad cut his hair at my barbershop and had multiple escalades.
My problem with Cory’s signing to Young Money is that hes actually a lyricist. Not in the content sense, but his focus on timing/flow when hes on his a-game is stellar.
His style doesnt go in line with the type of music all young money artists go for.
Just look at what Young Money did to Jae Millz. Went from a lyricist to a dude incapable of making a decent track.

I don’t see how anyone could hate on this. I’ve been a fan of Gunz for a while, just because I think his delivery and energy is crazy. I’ve never heard him put out a song like this, but this proves he can make SONGS, and introspective records. This is not meant to be said as blasphemy at all, but hearing this slightly reminded me of some 2pac stuff and some early Lupe (see “Hustlaz Due).
I’m not saying it was better or even as good as them by any means, but it certainly puts him in the right direction. I think if careful marketing consideration is taken, he will do well with Young Money, being able to have that street appeal and still keep it sincere (something I feel Wayne lost after Carter 2 and Drake, though one of my favorites, never had (or had the right) to have.

EVEN THOUGH CORY WAS OFFERED MORE MONEY AT ANOTHER LABEL, GOING TO YM WAS SMART. HE HAS THE LYRICAL ABILITY, SO A LIL WATERING DOWN WOULD BE GOOD FOR HIM IMO.
My problem with dude was always that he was a really good lyricist but he couldn’t make a good song for shit. But dude actually came through on this shit right here. Nice song.
