Young Jeezy & Don Cannon Talk Malcolm X Cover & DJ Drama Absence (Video)

Jeezy and Cannon talk with MTV about his “controversial” Trap Or Die 2 mixtape cover and why Drama wasn’t around for the sequel.

“I know a lot of cats are trippin’ off the cover. I tell ‘em like this: You had Martin Luther King, you had Malcolm X. One thing I respected about Malcolm X is that he believed in what he believed in. He died believing in it. That’s how I am. I would never compare myself to the great Malcolm, but I will die believing in what I believe in.”

“The original idea of Trap Or Die 2 was something DJ Drama was supposed to do. As days went by, Jeezy felt it was something that had to be done fast, because he was on a campaign. I didn’t have anything to do with the decision of the tape being with a DJ or without a DJ. But I really decided I would be there for Young if he wanted to put Trap Or Die 2 out.”

  1. POW POW SHOTS FIRED AT DRAM

  2. Why couldn’t Jeezy say why DJ Drama wasn’t around for the sequel? I think Jeezy and Drama back to beefing again. But the tape wouldve been way better if Drama did it instead of Cannon. IMO

  3. no, i’m glad Drama’s not on it, it’s all jeezy.

  4. Cristion D’or http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=glSDdrZX2lw

  5. Drama prob didn’t have enough time, Drama don put out like 5 mixtapes in the last couple months, he was prob putting TOD2 on the backburner and Jeezy wasn’t havin that

  6. Man, I cannot lie, Trap or Die 2 GOES HELLA HARD!!! I was listening to that early this morning and that had me hella hyped for my day. I almost felt like I was in the trap but I was going to my office. LOL

  7. i’m guessing (not really) drama wasn’t involved because of that bullshit he pulled with gucci mane a little while back. putting him and jeezy on the phone with out telling jeezy first.

  8. >>>”I would never compare myself to the great Malcolm”.

Hmmm. Jeezy impersonated and uses a quote from Malcolm X, trying to equate the trap to the equal rights struggle, but he’d never compare himself to Malcolm X.

    Ignorance at it’s finest.

  9. don cannon actually looks like dj drama

wait u mean to tell me wen they squashed the beef on the radio jeezy was put on the spot? AND he didnt really wanna do it? or he was put under pressure?

  10. This nigga is rappin about destroying the Black community but wants to emulate Malcolm X as far as his beliefs.

    What a joke.

  11. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2nb3xUcIzk8 < jeezy and gucci squash beef

it is kinda weird , jeezy seems not really into it, and at the end he says "hey you stuck me with that phone call homie"
    canon-"hey the streets needed this"
    jeezy-"it is wat it is"

  12. I don’t really think the mixtape is “controversial” or do I think anyone is tripping over the cover. Jeezy ain’t important to be trippin over wtf he doin. Who gives a fuck…… Nigga wack anyway

  13. this sushi eatin ass nigga. and why is cannon answering a question for jeezy when jeezy is sitting right next to him? haha, i like jeezy’s music, as i do with a lot of rappers, but a lot of these rappers don’t really seem like down-to-earth, REAL people

  14. Jeezy wat the fuck are you talking about bro lol? Way to not address the issue at all in that Malcom X answer lol. “I believe what i believe in…like Malcom X did” …Hitler believed what he believed in too, and so did J. Edgar Hoover, so what does that even mean?? That is some George W Bush ass logic/rhetoric! If ur gonna put on a serious face and try to be deep, PLEASE make sense my brotha.

I’ll probly still bump the mixtape tho cuz im a slave to shit shit. Sadface.
