I had been hearing about this kid XV, a rapper from Wichita, Kansas, via the Internets. Especially because of his 40 Days & 40 Nights series and resulting mixtape. I then linked up with dude on Twitter where we found out about our similar interests in video games and comic books. A couple of weeks ago, XV made his first visit to Brooklyn, New York and it was only right that we met at Bergen Street Comics, only the effin best ever comic book shop in ALL of BK. XV was able to tells me about his history, his hustle game, the meaning of him being a ‘Legacy’, and of course, wtf is up with him being dubbed ‘The Kid With The Green Backpack’.
Being the young talent that he is, I then asked him how he felt about XXL’s “Freshmen 10 List (2010)”, and why he wasn’t included. XV gave a dope answer.

I think the dude has more talent than anyone on the XXL freshman cover this year. Hes got his own style but he reminds me a little bit of Lupe
@remedy thats what most people with good taste think. You gotta be aware that XXL fell off, not a good source to find good music like it used to be. and King magazine barely has any ass pics in it anymore nowdays. “Internet killed the magazine star”
I’m about to listen to some XV stuff, ’cause the way you guys talk about him on here that he should be apart of the list got me intrigued on what this hipster lookin dude is about. If he’s one of those tight pants kinda rappers who talks about his clothes, I know ya’ll missed the ball for a reason.
dope interview & it shows that he had to work to get where he is now & still has a ways to go… he’s already been in the game damn near 10 years… XV definitely needs that push from someone major or even a big independent label
also got to agree with Meka about his answer, very clever & true… it’s sad that this time next year half of those 2010 XXL Freshmen will be considered an #epicfail or whatever new slang we see fit to conjure up for those losers lol
